After today's vote, there is no credibility to the claim there is no difference between the parties. |

Again, when it comes down to the fundamentals, I get another reminder why I'm a Democrat.
Its just like it has been when its came time to extend unemployment benefits during a serious jobs recession. Republicans voted against it. Democrats fought to make it happen.
Let this sink for a moment.
Republicans voted to privatize Medicare and basically kill it. Every Democrat voted against it.
Lets say it again.
Republicans voted to privatize Medicare and basically kill it. Every Democrat voted against it.
Democrats have their share of corporate corruption and influence to deal with, no doubt. But they get my support because even the most corporatist among them values preserving the things that still make this country likable, such as Medicare and other important social safety nets like it.
These are fundamental differences and the ones that really matter above all other issues.
Stop perpetuating the Ralph Nader-esque nonsense that the 2 parties are no different. They are dramatically different and I'll stick with the one that is wielding what power it has to prevent the dismantling of one of our greatest national treasures.

if only they wanted to.
The GOP is so extreme now theres no excuse for a real opposition party not to use their extremism like a weapon against them.
We'll see I guess.

the uber-wealthy don't pay anywhere near a fair share of the tax burden necessary to achieve a somewhat balanced budget, and both parties are proponents of global hegemony, as evidenced by three current wars and spiraling profligate MIC spending. But dems will typically draw the line somewhere this side of utmost depravity on its face, a line pubs routinely cross, most recently when only four House pubs voted against a bill to end Medicare as we now know it, but all dems voted against this obscenely on-its-face-depraved bill. :patriot:
