So why isn't anyone talking about the most logical reason behind Trump B.S.
To me the most logical explaination:

He is working his new contract and is using his fake run as leverage for bigger contract.

2. Believe it or not...
I suspect he is acting like an idiot to benefit the Democrats. Can't really explain it, just a feeling. We will never know for sure.

3. Interesting theory.
You're right....too much of his story doesn't add up. The guy is far from conservative. I think most people just assume he is conservative because he's rich and bashes Obama.

I'm sure of a couple of things: 1) he isn't seriously running for president and 2) he loves publicity more than anything else in the entire world.

8. I was thinking that the other day. Seems too over the top, and when paired with his past donations

to Dems, it seems like he's intentionally creating a fissure in the GOP between the far right and the far insane that will be tough to reconnect if he doesn't follow through with this campaign. Will Palin suddenly step in where she has been quite quiet lately, or will Bachman retake the crazy torch? Either would be disastrous for the GOP in 2012. Trump will leave the party divided and bow out once his ratings peak for the season finale of Celebrity Apprentice and be on his way.

Also, Lawrence O'Donnell, who knows inside details about television, contracts etc, has been tearing apart the holes in this stunt almost nightly, and one would imagine that if The Donald was serious, he'd have these issues sewn up tight by now.

12. That's my hunch, too.
His whole campaign seems built on the birther issue. And he's getting traction within the Party. He's forcing the rest of the candidates to take a position on this issue. Most would prefer to avoid it, I think...because either position has consequences. Meanwhile, he's sucking up all of the media oxygen from the rest of the field.

4. Because it's a better use of time to freak-out everytime a birther burps.

At least that's how it looks to me.

You nailed it, however.

5. Trump just loves to listen to himself talk.
I don't think he's serious about a Presidential run... he's just trying to see how much attention he gets, and unfortunately he's getting a lot of it.

7. He's trying to boost the rating for his show.
Celebrity Apprentice has been in a slump. He's stated he's going to announce his decision on the final episode of the season. There is no logic behind this other than to a) Give such an announcement the largest, for free, audience he can or b) increase ratings for the finale so that he has a better chance of getting another season.

And probably a bigger contract.

10. He will not be allowed to make a political announcement nor
to continue saying he will. NBC already told him that is not acceptable.

So if NBC has said something since then, I haven;'t heard it.

9. Actually, Lawrence O'Donnelll has been laying it out very well
the last couple of nights, and he is right about all of it. He knows the TV biz.
