Welcome, Truthseekers, to the FINAL live Malloy Show of the decade! Okay, you could argue that 2010 was actually the first year of the new decade, but whatever.

We’ll take your calls and discuss the events that had the most impact on our lives in 2010. Was it the BP oil disaster last Spring that flowed into summer? Remember BP executive and yachting enthusiast Tony “I want my life back” Hayward’s cavalier and callous attitude toward one of the greatest man-made environmental disasters in history?

We certainly had a whirlwind of landmark legislation pass through Congress, some just in the last few weeks. From the emotional highpoint of the repeal of Don’t Ask – Don’t Tell policy toward gays in the military, to the the utter disappointment of the extension of the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy. The promise of health care reform became quickly diluted as Obama made so many concessions to the GOP in the early stages of negotiations, the final passage of the act was anticlimactic at best.

Was it the rise of the Teabaggers and their series of shocking political victories and even more shocking candidates, like Christine “Not a Witch” O’Donnell and Rand “Worship the Aqua Buddha” Paul? Was it Scot Brown’s taking of the senate seat held by Ted Kennedy for 47 years in Massachusetts . . . was that how the teabag revolution began? Maybe you were moved by Joe “the stomper” Miller’s tooth-and-nail fight against Lisa Murkowski in Alaska?

Speaking of Alaska, the Palins were everywhere this year: Sarah was shooting caribou on TV, camping with Kate Goslin, making wild political statements, and defending Dr. Laura’s rights to use the “N word” repeatedly on the radio (reload, Dr. Laura, don’t retreat Sarah tweeted in support of the good doc’s uber-racism). Brisotl danced with he stars and bought a short sale foreclosure home in AZ. Way to establish your brand, folks. The Waltons you are not.

One constant this year, this decade, have been the continuation of Bush’s terror wars. We have an entire generation of children who have never known an America not at war in the Mideast. Thousands of dead troops, tens of thousands maimed and psychologically damaged, billions of taxpayer dolalrs spent on carnage and death and destruction, what is there to show for it? If the wars eneded now, could we ever heal our national psyche from such a stain?
