Big Ohio news: SB 5 repeal petition approved, signature gathering can begin

Great news in Ohio. Yesterday, the petition to prevent SB 5 from becoming law and to put a statewide referendum to block it permanently has been approved:

The petition language and accompanying signatures submitted by a group seeking to repeal Senate Bill 5 through referendum were certified by Ohio's secretary of state and attorney general.

With the certifications of Secretary of State Jon Husted and Attorney General Mike DeWine, the group We Are Ohio can now begin collecting the 231,147 valid signatures of registered Ohio voters required to place on the Nov. 8 ballot a question to repeal the controversial law that limits collective bargaining for the state's 360,000 public employees.

The repeal-oriented group has until June 30 to collect and submit its signatures to Husted's office.

This is awesome news about a very winnable campaign. Keep in mind that the only poll on repealing SB 5 shows our side winning by a whopping 23%.

Earlier today, we sent an action alert to the Ohio Kossacks signed up to our email list. If you are in Ohio, but did not receive this email and would like to help out, you can sign up to receive action alerts here.
