Angry parents drive Bobb from Town Hall (Detroit)

DETROIT — An angry group of students, parents and teachers denounced Detroit Public Schools Emergency Financial Manager Robert Bobb April 12 and his plan to close 14 Detroit schools and convert 45 others to charter schools.

Jeers, boos and insults were directed at Bobb as he sat alongside DPS Board of Education President Anthony Adams, when it was announced speakers would be limited to one-minute comments.

“Bobb is out of control! We must stop him!” an audience member yelled.

Lawrence Neely, a teacher at Breithaupt, stood outside passing out flyers. Neely is adamantly opposed to the closure of Breithaupt.
