Edited on Sat Apr-16-11 08:04 PM by Raschel
Just like when she used 'blood libel', this uneducated woman continues her display of ignorance.

'Fight Like a Girl' is widely used as a slogan on clothing in the fight against breast cancer. I wouldn't doubt that she saw it and decided to use it.

In fact, this website even mentions Palin's name. (the link to Palin doesn't work) and it looks like a large part of their merchandise uses the phrase 'Fight Like a Girl'

You can also find 'Fight Like a Girl' apparel on many other websites.

1. I am not one to defend Palin
but Fight like a girl is a pretty old phrase which has been used to either deride a male fighter as being somehow inadequate or being used by females ironically.

3. But she's not telling the GOP that they fight like girls, she's telling them to fight like one.
Makes no sense (although nothing she says does).

5. actually it does in the ironic sense
she is saying that the GOP should be tougher like the hockey team she alluded to.

2. Palin isn't smart enough to come up with her own slogan
So she has to steal it from a group fighting breast cancer. Really, can't this woman think for herself? She thinks she's doing a good thing for the feminist movement but all she is doing is setting it backwards.

Blows my mind how someone of so little accomplishment and intelligence can be so successful. I guess I expect more from my candidates than the average Republican.

21. If you don't care, why do you comment? Unrec it all you want, but don't act like you're being
bothered since you replied in the first place. When you reply you should expect to get a reply back.

I'm a breast cancer patient and I do care.

24. So....the reason for putting a spotlight on Sarah Palin...
is because you are a breast cancer patient..?
I have sympathy for you, having breast cancer, but really.. To me, that is a non-sequitur.

I really do want to understand.

28. The spotlight is already on Palin. The media has highlighted her cutesy "fight like a girl " slogan.
I am not "highlighting" Palin. I am pointing out one more despicable thing she has done.

I posted this because:

"fight like a girl" has become synonymous with breast cancer awareness

a breast cancer group asked Palin to wear a hoody on her show with the saying "fight like a girl"

Palin is well aware that it is a breast cancer awareness slogan

Palin used the slogan for herself in Wisconsin

I will continue to post and make comments on Palin's dirt.

believe it was real. But it was. I wish I could remember the word.

11. Jennifer Shahade, a US chess master, recently wrote a book by that title
I used the expression when I was a child (I'll be 60 this year). Back then on the schoolyard it meant a cowardly way of fighting which included such dirty tactics as kicking (no one knew what tae kwon do was).

Ms. Shahade turned the expression on its head. Women chess players have developed a reputation as of late for hard fought, tactical games, thus delighting fans.

18. The Meaning of "Fight Like a Girl"
After many Sarah Palin's Alaska episodes, we have received a lot of questions and requests for "What was Sarah wearing?" In last night's 'Logging' episode, Sarah appeared in a hooded sweatshirt with the words "Fight Like a Girl" screen printed on it. As we have seen with Sarah and her family, this term could be interpreted in so many ways, since we have seen them fish, hunt and climb "like girls." But this time it was a very special cause — breast cancer research.

The saying "Fight Like a Girl" has become synonymous with breast cancer awareness, and has been used by various organizations to fun raise for research and treatment of the disease. The 'Think Pink' movement has tried to bring awareness to the disease, while making it easy to donate to the cause. With the staggering statistics of American women with breast cancer awareness is just the beginning.

20. She's co-opting the tag line
hoping that when people see the breast-cancer tee shirt or sweat shirt they'll think the person is a Sarah supporter and doesn't know it's for breast cancer...remember they go for the low info crowd...

And the teabagger men are almost exclusively misogynists...and they think they're not because "I love Sarah Palin!"
