Death total for latest storm system at 40. These deaths, many of |
|
children, are tragic. An important point needs to be made about the availability of emergency assistance (911, etc.) and other government provided aid. If we keep "cutting" will there be a time when 911 answers "This number no longer in service"? The southern states are vulnerable to climate related damage and tragic loss of life. We need to emphasize that government is GOOD when it helps in these situations and taxes are a positive GOOD when used to help our people....ALL of our people. The horrendous idea that "Government is THE PROBLEM" needs to go on the garbage pile of history.

5. I have come to the conclusion that rethugs like waste. |
|
Birth control and abortion are wrong because they kill babies, but if that baby dies in a tornado because mom's homeless or there are no first responders, that's God's will.
I despise this kind of non-reasoning.

7. They are a nonChristian version of Christianity. |

It's obvious they don't have confidence in our government, which means they have no confidence in the U.S.A.

And by "people" yall know who I mean...
Wish we could put those types in one place, that way they can have their less government utopia all to themselves.

10. I'm sure that some will. That's nuts. These storms are killing folks in |
|
RW neighborhoods. I would imagine that many of the victims are RWers. This is not happening in places where RWers point to Liberals. Places like New York or California. These storm deaths are going to be harder for the RWers to explain away as The Wrath of God. Maybe they will start realizing, some of them at least, that government plays an important part in warning of these storms and in cleaning up and in dealing with the injury and misery. The point needs to be made in a gentle but firm way to the "cut, cut, cut" crowd. IMO

Pat Robertson will just claim it's mostly "god-hating libruls" who died, so that makes it OK.
