The Western Wisconsin Democrats web site has posted a notice of a meeting in Hudson with “big news” about the Sheila Harsdorf Recall effort. The meeting, titled a “Recall Harsdorf Rally – Big News,” is Monday, April 18 at 6 p.m. at the St. Croix County government Center in Hudson.
Although no one will confirm the information to be presented, most expect that it will be announced that the recall supporters have collected enough signature for the recall process to continue. There is also some speculation that Democrats may also name a candidate to oppose Harsdorf in a recall election.
Also at 6 p.m. Monday night, the St Croix County Republican Party holding an “I Stand With Sheila Rally” rally at Lakefront Park in Hudson.
The Harsdorf recall effort needs 15,744 signatures from 10th Senate District voters to force a recall vote. Recall supporter were aiming for 20,000 to insure enough signatures if some are ruled invalid. The deadline for signature is May 2 and that will be followed by a 31-day period during which signatures can be challenged/validated. The recall election would be six weeks later – approximately mid July. That could be pushed back four weeks further if more than one candidate seeks the post in the Democrat party.
