Banks May Get Easier Path To Foreclosures in Tennessee
Edited on Mon Apr-18-11 03:38 PM by spanone
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Banks may get an easier path to foreclosing on Tennesseans' homes.

A legislative subcommittee passed the proposal that would limit how much notice banks have to give before foreclosing on a home. If the bill passes, there will still be a 21-day waiting period before a bank can foreclose. But banks would only have to publish one notice in the local newspaper before a home can be auctioned.

Right now, three notices are required, and banks say that's too costly.

Opponents say the change would remove one of the few protections Tennesseans have against losing their homes.
