Kansas Gov really is stupid taking us back to the stage coach days

TOPEKA, Kan. - Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback has signed a bill requiring voters to show photo identification at the polls.

Brownback was joined Monday at a signing ceremony at the Statehouse by Secretary of State Kris Kobach (KOH'-bahk), a fellow Republican who pushed the legislation.

Many Republicans argue the new law will combat election fraud. Critics say it will suppress voter turnout and decrease the number of people registered to vote.

The photo ID requirement takes effect Jan. 1.

1. Our clerk in Douglas County, Jamie Shew, talked about this
when he was doing election training a few weeks back. He said that he's going to try and get as much information as possible to the public in the months running up to the 2012 election. And he's going to have extra training for the people working the polls too. Jamie doesn't want any voter to be turned away if at all possible. Of course, he's a Democrat...

3. I think I will have the state pay for my ID
since they can't charge a poll tax, they have to have a provision to buy ID's for those that want.

well, why should I pay then????

6. Several years ago the Kansas City Star did
a piece on voter fraud, and they could only find about three persons in the Kansas City area who had voted on both sides of the state line. As I recall, they were all Republicans.

8. I work the polls every election day for the past 10 years...we have
never turned away anyone. I am the go to person at the polls if someone comes who is not listed on our books. I will find out where they are registered and tell them what polling place they need to be at.

We have forms for every type of situation, e.g. they have moved then there is a form for them that states they have moved to such and such address and this will be the last time they vote at this polling place. Forms to fill out if someone has died, I've been known to talk to a voter after they have voted, give them my condolences on their loss and ask them to fill out a form.

There are about 800 people in our precinct, and almost everyone is known to one of us that works the polls. So a photo ID is not needed. We love it when a first time voter comes in, one of us will show them the machine and explain the procedure to them. If there are any donuts left, they get one of those as a first time voting gift.

Voting should not be made hard. If you have small precincts, have workers, Democrat & Republicans from the neighborhood working, voting should be easy.

9. its all about securing repuke votes
which in Kansas is pretty pointless as they almost always go repuke even if it means voting against their own needs
