2. Yes, even for Brewer, this was a "bridge too far." |
|
As for her decision to veto this bill, Gov. Brewer said in part: "I never imagined being presented with a bill that could require candidates for President of the greatest and most powerful nation on earth to submit their 'early baptismal or circumcision certificates'… this is a bridge too far. This measure creates significant new problems while failing to do anything constructive for Arizona." http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/dpp/news/politics/state_politics/brewer-vetoes-birther-bill-guns-on-campus-4-18-2011

Would you have to show your wang-wang at the door to get in to the race?

4. Whoa. This is going to disappoint a lot of Arizonans and please a lot of Texans. |
|
The competition for "haven to the most insane rightwing wackos" between Arizona and Texas has been building. This is quite a setback for Arizona.
Did Brewer indicate the reason for the veto? The only hope for Arizona would be the veto was accompanied by the statement, "This bill did not go far enough."

8. Well, that just sucks. The gov should have said, |
|
"A simple piece of paper is not good enough. We need samples of the baptismal water with remnants of the candidate's DNA present. In the case of circumcision, we need the actual foreskin, except in the case of female candidates, in which case all bets are off. Video is good. And, I saw nothing in the bill the exempted GOP candidates. What the hell were you thinking? Get this out of here, and next time come back with some real legislation. Make your mamas proud."

6. It didn't include a clause to build a time machine and record the birth live |
|
Nothing would satisfy the birthers.
I wonder, though. Is there some kind of contest between the red states to see who can "outcrazy" the others?

7. It certainly appears so |

here in Georgia a similar bill is being discussed.
Also, the legislature just sent an immigration bill to the governor which mirrors the AZ bill :(

10. Rachel just said the Arizona legislature could override her veto. |
|
They might have enough votes. My lack of respect for AZ rethuglicans might be restored

Didn't they have enough votes to over come a veto? If my memory serves, it was passed overwhelmingly. If I am remembering correctly than this is just for show.
