Fans campaign to send M. Night Shyamalan to film school

Fans campaign to send M. Night Shyamalan to film school

If you've been disappointed with the movies M. Night Shyamalan has turned out ever since his 1999 blockbuster "The Sixth Sense," you're not alone. Three former fans have launched a campaign to send the Razzie winner back to film school.

According to PopEater, author/copywriter Chris Baker and his two pals are trying to raise $150,000 to help Shyamalan become a better filmmaker. Baker got the idea when he saw a trailer for "Devil" last year and the audience laughed at the phrase "From the mind of M. Night Shyamalan."

After learning that Shyamalan was planning to make the futuristic thriller "1000 A.E." with Will and Jaden Smith, Baker and his buddies launched M. Night School, a website where fellow concerned fans can donate funds to help the writer/director finesse his craft.

"If we all donate just one dollar, we can send M. Night back to NYU so he gets the help we all so desperately need," reads the site, which has raised approximately $540 thus far.

2. "The Happening" might be the worst movie I have ever seen.....only an appearance on Mystery......
Science Theater could have made it worth watching.

Or maybe rifftrax.

4. that other one he made, "lady in the lake?" was worse than "The Happening"
The elevator one (people trapped in elevator) started out promising then faded.

7. "Signs" did it for me
One of the worst written screen plays ever. And as an added negative bonus - Mel Gibson.

15. At least Lucas wrote and directed a few good films
M. Night, none.

George is doing fine with ILM.

5. He's had some stinkers, but I've liked some of his films since Sixth Sense:
Unbreakable as excellent
Signs was decent
Lady in the Water was odd but fun

14. Ha ha
But he gets credit points from me for not putting out cookie cutter stuff.
The results are some big swings and misses but I'd rather see original, crappy art than good corporate art.

19. I suppose everybody here hated The Village, too.
He had a cameo in that one, too. Sort of Hitchcockish of him.

I like most his stuff. Lady in the Water, meh.

20. I liked The Happening and The Village.
I found them emotional, spiritual films. Very different from the norm. That's why I liked them.

22. I think this is a petty stunt.
Shyamalan has a style which many people enjoy. If you don't like his style, don't see the movies.

23. Funny, but I don't think film school will solve anything for him.
He's no Kubrick, or even Spielberg, but he seems to have a handle on the nuts-and-bolts of putting a movie together. It's his scripts that suck. That and the kind of ego it takes to continually bloat his increasingly-inaccurately-named cameos from one film to the next, and whine like a baby about the mean film critics that just don't understand his genius.

25. Total hack
Even 'The Sixth Sense' was a crock. If you didn't realize Bruce Willis was dead by the time he was eating dinner with his wife, you probably should like the film. The rest of us, not so much. Manipulative con of the worst sort. Film school can't cause him to turn chicken shit into chicken salad.
