My fellow Americans, you are happier working.

Yup. You got it. You are happier working, while those darned Yurpians like to laze about and enjoy leisure time. I actually heard this reported on ABC early news this morning but the only link I could find to a report was on that vile bit of Murdoch trash, FauxNews, so please accept my apologies for the link. Yup. Corporate America wants you to keep workin' your fingers to the bone for reduced income and no security and they want you to know that you want it that way--in fact, you love it! Self-flagellation in a state of ecstasy.

Who's Happier: Europeans or Americans?

Published April 18, 2011
LiveScience

Americans really do love to work, it seems, while Europeans are much happier if they skip burning the midnight oil in favor of leisure. That's according to a new study finding longer work hours make Europeans unhappy while Americans get a very slight (albeit not statistically significant) bliss boost from the extra grind.

PS. The only other link I could find to this story was with the Mail Online.

I am sorry though, I don't mind putting in a hard days work and when I am at work, I focus on my job, but I need my free time too. I enjoy traveling and seeing the world.

3. Thanks for the link. I didn't hear this until this morning and missed
the thread yesterday. It just stuck out like a sore thumb amidst the other reports of the day.

4. sounds like a load of hooey to me. see americans, you like working long hours
so quit complaining. everyone else is happy with how things are, so you should be too. maybe americans that work because they want to and not because they have to have the luxury, but most people are treading water and just trying not to drown. they may be happy to have a job and thankful for it, but then they fear taking vacation or calling in sick for fear of the line of people out the door waiting to take your replaceable job.

6. We don't know anything else!
We work longer hours, have much longer commutes, have very little time off and live in constant fear of losing our jobs and therefore our healthcare. I think we've convinced ourselves that work makes us happy because we know if we didn't work, we'd likely be homeless.

9. And it's the voice of the Rs and their backers. At least
we get a glimpse of how they are trying to shape the zeitgeist.
