The top 2% got their tax cut |

So where are the jobs? Corporate profits are up so where are the jobs? American corporations created 1.4 million jobs over seas but what about us? Where are our jobs? We have a government that bends over backward to give the mega corporations whatever they want so where are the jobs? While I'm asking questions why haven't the people responsible for one of the biggest economic meltdowns in American history gotten locked up instead of record bonuses?

1. same reason as why the "people responsible for one of the biggest" |
|
war efforts of our history haven't "gotten locked up".
Laws are different for the political elite and those that keep them elected.

The jobs are overseas, 1.4 million, Unfortunately this was never about jobs, but about corporate profits. Will we become the next banana republic?

4. Even when we were bailing out GM... |

...they were making record profits overseas. We bailed out their American operations. They could have bailed out themselves.

6. There are two issues that I see |
|
Edited on Thu Dec-30-10 10:32 AM by badtoworse
Companies will begin hiring when the demand for their goods and services rises to the point where it is costing them money (in lost sales) not to add staff. It doesn't happen overnight, but as the economy continues to improve, we should see the employment situation slowly improve.
The other aspect is more difficult - the world has changed. Today, the US is only one of many countries where the same goods and services can be made or provided. Companies are building overseas because it is cheaper to do so. We need to make the US more competitive in the world marketplace or our manufacturing base will continue to shrink and unemployment will remain high. This is economic reality and I do not see anyway around it.
