Thom Hartman Said Something About Trump Being Born In South Africa?....
I came in at the end of a conversation on Thom's program today and I think I heard him say something about Trump being born in South Africa and how he would square that with his followers after he's made such an issue of Obama's birth cert.

What's this all about? South Africa - really?

1. He wastalking about a wev site that has a whole descrition of
Trump being born in SA & his father was in the diamond business. that's supposedly where he got to be so friendly with "the blacks". I wrote the eb site address down but haven't checked it out yet.

trumpbirthers.blogspot.com

Seems someone has made up a whole story trying to force Trump to defend his being born in the US as a position against his claiming Obama wasn't!

2. Another blogger claims to have been his nanny "when he was born in Mexico."
Of course, the fact that she lists "her" address as being a "Home for the Criminally Senile" and lists Trump's father's name as "Fred Christ Trump" on the "Mexican birth certificate" kind of gives it away.

Still, if Trump wasn't born in South Africa, why won't he just come right out and say that he wasn't born in South Africa?

4. And what kind of name is Trump anyway?
I mean, really? Does anyone here know of anyone else with this name?

You know, it sounds kind of made up. Maybe it's shortened from some eastern European, maybe even from a Communist, country. Just sayin'. Are there any witnesses to his birth in "Queens." Queens. Right.

I read the internets, and I haven't seen anyone surface who claims to have known this "Trump" character from his school days. In "Queens"? Maybe. Maybe not.

Mitt 'anchor baby' Romney's father George was born in Mexico.

I'm waiting for the birthers to start hollering about that ;)

Excerpt:

SNIP

Romney was a candidate for President of the United States in 1968.

SNIP

George Wilcken Romney was thus born in Colonia Dublán, Galeana, in the Mexican state of Chihuahua – one of the Mormon colonies in Mexico – on July 8, 1907

p.s. George Romney ran for U.S. President, but he was born in Mexico - so how did that happen?

7. Then you need to go review why there was such a big debate regarding McCain
Edited on Tue Apr-19-11 05:32 PM by Tx4obama

John McCain was born on August 29, 1936 at Coco Solo Naval Air Station in the Panama Canal Zone, to naval officer John S. McCain, Jr. (1911–1981) and Roberta (Wright) McCain (b. 1912). At that time, the Panama Canal was under U.S. control.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_mccain

------
The reason that McCain was allowed to run was because the Panama Canal was under U.S. control at the time of his birth - therefore it was argued that he was born on 'U.S. controlled soil'.

But Mitt Romney's dad George was NOT born on U.S. soil - he was born in Mexico and lived there for a few years before coming to the USA.

9. There is no McCain controversy
He was born in the PCZ, a U.S. territory at the time, and was also born on a military installation, which is also U.S. soil, according to the Constitution. No issue there.

I posted last week about Romney's father, who was born in Mexico to American parents who fled to Mexico because they disagreed with U.S. laws (specifically bigamy, a Mormon thing). Yet he was allowed to run for the GOP nomination for president in 1968. Wonder how the birthers would spin this. Oh wait! The Romneys are white! Nevermind.

8. Romney's father was an American citizen, and that was sufficient in 1907
Actually, to be more precise, a child was a citizen even if born abroad provided that (a) his father was an American citizen and (b) his father had lived in the United States at some point.

Later, in 1934, the law was changed to also confer citizenship to children whose mother was a U.S. citizen.

As for McCain, the "controversy" over his candidacy was silly, just like the "controversy" over Obama's legitimacy (but without the racist undertones).

Actually, the birther controversy is especially silly, since even if Obama hadn't been born in Hawaii he would still be a citizen via jus sanguinis by virtue of his mother's (a) being a U.S. citizen and (b) having lived for ten years in the United States, with five of those being after the age of 14. (Those were the requirements for jus sanguinis citizenship in 1962 when Obama was born.)

10. Obama's a natural born citizen regardless
He passed muster in 2008 with both the FBI and the Secret Service, who did thorough background checks. He released his birth certificate. And his mother was a citizen. Shouldn't that be enough for the idiot brigade?
