Police hope video shows theft of 7-foot-tall gingerbread man
Edited on Thu Dec-30-10 09:54 AM by Ian David
HAVERHILL, Mass. — It's not the kind of thing someone could slip into their pocket and walk away with unnoticed.

It's nearly 7 feet tall, made of wood and was standing in one of downtown's busiest areas — Columbus Park next to Railroad Square.

But the gingerbread man is gone. Police and merchants are wondering who took it and why.

One of four gingerbread men set up in the park for the holiday season has been stolen. The decorative characters were built by students at Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High to boost the image of the downtown during the annual Christmas Stroll and as the new year approaches.

Whittier Tech senior Christopher Smith, 17, leans on a decorative wooden gingerbread man that he helped create in Columbus Park at Railroad Square in Haverhill.

1. Where the hell do you hide a 7' wooden gingerbread man?
I think word would get out if someone spotted it in your dorm room.

2. It's not made of aluminum, so I doubt it was stolen for profit.
I have a feeling it will eventually be returned.
