both fix the market failure in capitalism by allowing groups to get together to approach the market. (This should be our mantra when the right talks about getting rid of collective bargaining).

Corporations have allowed groups of people with smaller amounts of wealth to get together and become a business unit. Labour allows groups of people to face the employment market together. If there were no corporations then only the very, very rich could be in large business entities and there would be no upward mobility. If there were no unions then there would be no safety standards or decent wages or upward mobility for workers. Capitalism, on its own, fails if the goal is upward mobility. It does not create a great number of good jobs or a great number of big businesses. Only government intervention into the market makes for upward mobility and a middle class.

5. Read my whole post. I've tried to clarify. I meant simply that capitalism doesn't work without
strong government intervention.

6. The type of Capitalism we are practicing now is
doomed to fail. It makes absolutely no sense for a sustainable society/economy. It is taking the majority of the country to a third world nation. The country will be a pit to live in if this continues.

7. Agreed that the corporations have gotten loose and need to be reigned in. After all if the purpose

of corporations is the increase upward mobility, and they fight against that as they are doing today, they should be penalized somehow...higher taxes comes to mind. There seems to be no penalty for over-reaching politically if you are a corporation.

8. And added to this is the inane SCOTUS Citizens United ruling. That alone is
indicative of how out of control this nation is with respect to unbridled capitalism.

9. For decades most people were satisfied
with a good mix of capitalism and socialism as a counterbalance for fairness. Since the capitalists have gone rogue and corrupt, I am for a total socialist revolution. I have zero respect for these greedy bastids.

10. Corporations who deal with the government never lose their charter, why should
public unions lose their collective bargaining rights.
