Is Karl Rove Driving the Effort to Prosecute Julian Assange?
Fredrik Reinfeldt and George W. Bush

Former Bush White House strategist Karl Rove likely is playing a leading role in the effort to prosecute WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, a source with ties to the justice community tells Legal Schnauzer.

.................

On the hot seat for his apparent role in the political prosecution of former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman, Rove sought comfort in Sweden. "When Rove was in trouble and did not want to testify on the three times he was invited by the U.S. Congress, he wound up in Sweden," our source says. "Further, it was Reinfeld that first hired Karl when he got thrown out of the White House.

............

Why would Rove be interested in corralling Julian Assange? To help protect the Bush legacy, our source says. "The very guy who has released the documents that damage the Bushes the most is also the guy that the Bush's number one operative can control by being the Swedish prime minister's brain and intelligence and economic advisor."

Could Rove also be trying to protect himself? What if WikiLeaks has documents--or Rove thinks it could get documents--that prove "Turd Blossom's" role in criminal activity during the Bush years? What if someone with a conscience from the Bush administration--if such a person exists--provided WikiLeaks with documents that show Rove's role in political prosecutions, the unlawful firings of U.S. attorneys, and more? Could Rove be trying to save his own doughy butt?

Karl Rove Wants WikiLeaks 'Criminal' Julian Assange 'Hunted Down And Grabbed And Put On Trial'

"Charge him under the espionage act," Rove said of Julian Assange, the WikiLeaks founder and transparency advocate. "This man is nothing but a serial leaker . I say go after him and go after him hard."

1. I mentioned Rove the other day
in a post about Sweden but then deleted it because it was too much like a "conspiracy theory".

Seems like my spidey senses were right on this occasion.

6. My money is on "self-preservation" motivating Rove...
I can't see him getting involved otherwise.

37. You want conspiracy theory?
Take this for what you will. I happen to be aware that Wikileaks is in possession of a trove of Plame case / Libby trial documents they have never released. These include grand jury transcripts. I have no way to effectively prove this here so all I can do is toss it out there.

2. But who is playing a leading role in prosecuting Rove?
It isn't nice, the events I would like to see take place in the life of Rove.

treason because of the Valerie Plame affair, he wouldn't be free to do this kind of thing. I blame our Democrats for taking these issues off the table when they had the power to do something about the corruption and treasonous activities in the Bush administration.

my guess is that Rove is behind this whole thing.

you always have to ask the question: who benefits?

8. Not "Put On Trial" -- Rove wants him dead
Same thing when they tried Saddam Hussein for a charge that pre-dated the Reagan-Bush I years. His immediate execution kept Saddam from being able to testify about deals made with those two Republican administrations.

Dead men tell no tales.

19. I have been saying that about SH trial and execution for years.....
SH was the Bush connection for oil for years. How else could junior have an oil company that never produced a single well (they were located in the same building as my company). Abusco was nothing but a money laundering operation. Rove's fav way to discredit is a sexual smear. Ann Richards had a whisper campaign (lesbian) when Bush ran against her. The Bush family and their country club pals destroyed and looted the S&L's here in Texas. I bet he went for Elliot Spitzer because he went after WS buds. I have been on this planet long enough to not discredit some conspiracy theories and have been watching the Bush family long enough to know they are worse than any Mafia Don ever thought of being. Computers are the best way to expose all this dirty laundry that these folks have hidden and the world is waking up to see it. Julian Assange should get a gold medal but he will probably disappear like Hoffa.

16. KKKarl's new Swedish BFFs might be interested in this
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A28988-2004Nov5.html

In "Plan of Attack", Bob Woodward describes Karl Rove's attitude toward Swedes: "Rove saw that the president was "wired up" about Blix. The president knew Rove's attitude toward the Swedes. As the highest-ranking Norwegian-American in the White House -- and perhaps the only one -- Rove was convinced of the historical duplicity of the Swedes, who had invaded Norway in 1814 and ruled the country until 1905. There was a long-standing grudge and it was a running joke between the president and Rove."

I mean, we all knew the Bush* White House was full of bigots, but against the Swedes?! :wtf:

23. Wikileaks is much bigger than just Julian Assange
It's a consortium of sorts and there's nothing poor Karl can do to stop them. In fact, the more pressure put upon Mr. Assange, the more likely his partners are to releasing the code to the "insurance files." :D

29. If there is any justice....
He will end up behind bars here in Texas. I am sure Bubba and the gang will give him a warmer reception than they did for Alan Stamford (ponzi scheme with investication expanding as we speak). Alan wound up coming to court with a black eye and broken jaw.

Edited on Wed Dec-15-10 03:17 PM by BetterThanNoSN
Who will speak for Mike Connell, Rove's IT guru that aided and abetted the 2004 Ohio election theft and ended up dead in a......you guessed it....single engine plane crash. Rove purportedly threatened Connell to take the heat if they looked at the blatant Kerry/Bush vote flip in the wee hours. Connell had the results sent to his company in Tennessee and lo and behold, Bush flips the exit polls and beats Kerry, a dramatic 5% shift in votes. Not to wish ill of anyone but Connell got what he deserved for running with the devil. Wll Rove ever be held accountable? Yep, but sadly not likely in this lifetime. And Karl, your serial leaking line is precious, you hipocritical douchebag.
