3. Probably some place with the Internet where he can continue to work as usual.
I've been retired for 3 years, and planning for the future of my own retirement I've started learning to speak Spanish. South of the border is looking more and more attractive to me.

2. You would think . . .
Considering the war crimes and the crimes against humanity that the United States could be charged with for its national shenanigans of the last 10 years, you would think that the perpetrators would be a little more interested in maintaining the U.S.'s special City-on-a-Hill status, exceptional as the seat of the good lord's good will toward all humanity on earth. As such, we should really take better care of our nation, its citizens and schoolchildren, and make sure that we stay on top to avoid any unpleasantness in years to come from the righteous anger of many people in the rest of the world.

Letting our infrastructure go to hell, de-educating our citizens, and lowering the public discourse to such nonsense as birtherism and the "debate" over whether the fact of evolution is true or not, doesn't augur well for our prospects. Even the best-armed nations have fallen throughout history, and force of arms is no guarantee of everlasting hegemony. The short-sightedness of "me first and fuck you" is going to come back to bite any number of people in their amply-upholstered backsides.
