Americans disagree on causes of global warming.
http://www.carseyinstitute.unh.edu/publications/IB-Hamilton-Climate-Change-2011.pdf
The link is a pdf report.

Key findings include:
• Most people say that they understand either a moderate amount or a great deal about the issue of global warming or climate change.
• Large majorities agree that climate change is happening now, although they split on whether this is attributed mainly to human or natural causes.
• Level of understanding about climate change varies considerably by region.
• Beliefs about climate change are strongly related to political party. Republicans most often believe either that climate is not changing now or that it is changing but from mainly natural causes. Democrats most often believe that the climate is changing now due mainly to human activities.
• Political polarization is greatest among the Republicans and Democrats who are most confident that they understand this issue. Republicans and Democrats less sure about their understanding also tend to be less far apart in their beliefs.
• People who express lower confidence also might be more likely to change their views in response to weather.

I have no issue with people thinking that it isn't manmade. Scientifically speaking, it isn't proven that we are the cause, so they have every right to have some doubts. However, I dont understand those that claim global warming doesn't exist. That HAS been proven.

1. Science doesn't 'prove' anything; 'proof' is a mathematical concept not a scientific concept

If you don't even understand the basic principles, you may want to refrain from editorializing.

2. And even then, mathematical proofs are still theoretical

3. First get rid of the term of global warming
it lends itself to too much interpretation
better to use the term climate change .......
can be used to explain some areas getting colder, some warmer, more rain in some places, droughts,
longer or shorter seasons, etc.

4. I fear many Americans don't trust scientists to do science, but to pursue an agenda
that attracts funding. Of course this is a basic misunderstanding of how science works, but it's in the interest of our Corporate Masters to maintain such a misunderstanding.

5. Republicans are the only political entity left on earth that still refuses to acknowlege it
Face it, republicans are kooks. There is no rhyme or reason trying to understand their ignorance or putting it into perspective.

6. the most thoroughly propagandized populace in history
that repubs think they understand the science, and reject the evidence in favor of short term concerns, is just further proof.

and PLEASE: "Climate Change" - the overall picture is warming, but the daily evidence is more extreme weather events, i.e. a hundred tornadoes in a day.

7. Common sense, logic and overwhelming scientific evidence point to man made causes as being
a major and growing contributor to global warming climate change.

Thanks for the thread, IndyPragmatist.

10. No
Scientifically speaking, it isn't proven that we are the cause, so they have every right to have some doubts.

This statement is false.
