14-year-old driver causes minivan rollover, killing 3
Wow. This morning, a 14-year-old girl drove a minivan with nine passengers in northwestern Saskatchewan province in Canada then rolled over the minivan, leading to the death of a 13-year-old girl and two males. The remaining six are in hospital. CBC News has more.

2. I got my dl when I was 14 (idaho) in retrospect I was far too young to be driving.
The poor driver will have a lifetime of guilt over this and I imagine even the passengers who survived won't be getting over this anytime soon.

3. I have been arguing with people for years about
the legal driving age being far too low in most of this country.

And every time stories like this pop up, I know I was right to make my sons wait until age 16 for their permit, and making them drive for one full year on the permit before getting their license.

Also, I've been told by insurance agents, and read somewhere, that in those states where the driver's license age is the oldest, there are fewer car accidents by 21 year olds than in those that license younger. The problem is that even the most mature fourteen or fifteen year old is still only fourteen or fifteen.
