News leaked this week: the White House is considering an executive order that would require more disclosure from corporate forces trying to influence our democracy.

It's the definition of corruption for companies to try to win government contracts by influencing our elections. Even the appearance of corruption undermines our democratic institutions and representative government.

We know that as progressives, and the president knows that too. And since Congress has failed to close a gaping loophole that would allow precisely that type of corruption, the president is considering an executive order that would require government contractors to disclose their contributions to groups who get involved in elections.

We need to make sure this proposal actually happens, because corporate lobbyists are lining up against the president's plan.
Right now, corporate-backed groups are planning to attack the president -- and force him to drop any plan to require more disclosure. We know these lobbyists play tough -- they've stalled this kind of action in Congress for years. We can't let the same bullying tactics stop President Obama from doing what we know is right.

Progressives must make sure the president issues the proposed executive order.

this is really great news. I so, so hope the president will follow through on this.

3. Please stop sending me these Corporate America is Evil emails

So I sent this on to a relative just for a FYI, and this is
what I got back.  I tell ya' there is none so blind that those
that will not see.

out-and-out lies, but you come across very paranoid and closed

What does concern me is that these are factual articles on
current events that are being sent out, how can someone not at
least vet what the articles states before nay-saying them.  Is
ignorance bliss?  Am I stupid for following what is happening
to our country?  I try to stay away from politics, but concern
for what is transpiring in America today keeps pulling me back
in.  What I do not understand is how can people choose to be
blind to what is the truth and proven as fact and not just
political opinion.  This is the age of the World Wide Web and
everything can be vetted!  So let us not concern ourselves
that Corporate influences are destroying Middle America, it is
all just "out-and-out lies" and
"paranoia".  When does a person realize they may in
fact be part of the problem and not part of the solution. 
Remaining ignorant will not bring light to the current
problems and if sending out emails to family and friends to
alert them is paranoid than so be it.  I for one, have never
been able to turn a blind eye to injustices, that's just who I
am.   

I tell ya' there is none so blind that those that will not
see...
