http://enenews.com/nuclear-reactor-150-miles-from-atlanta-shuts-down-abruptly-triggered-if-system-detect-conditions-that-could-be-unsafe-video

"A nuclear reactor at Plant Vogtle in eastern Georgia has been taken out of service until authorities determine why it unexpectedly shut down. …

Nuclear reactors are designed to shut down if automatic monitoring systems detect conditions that could be unsafe. Southern Co. spokesman Alyson Fuqua said it was not immediately clear what prompted the shutdown........................"

State of Arizona found I-131 in Phoenix milk at levels 500% higher than EPA’s top reading for anywhere in continental US

MILK SAMPLES FROM THE PHOENIX AREA (http://www.azein.gov/azein/2011/Milk%20Data_3.pdf ) , State of Arizona, April 6, 2011:

“Due to the amounts of radioactive material falling below detection levels, monitoring data will not be collected several times a week as before. Data postings will appear less frequently unless conditions warrant more frequent measurements.” – AZ.gov http://www.azein.gov/azein/2011/Data%20landing%20page.pdf

EPA RADnet Reports Show Plutonium in US since March 18th

We found a more complete RADnet dataset for various radioactive isotopes we had previously not encountered.

Recently while searching the EPA RADnet database for radiation reports, we found a link to the main database. It included the RADNet monitoring data for many isotopes not released in the public reports.

Notice that:

•RADnet began monitoring for Plutonium from Day 1

•Plutonium was found from Alaska. to San Francisco California. and down into Guam from 03/18/2011

•Strontium was detected in the United States on 03/18/2011

•Isotopes found not released in public reports Plutonium, Strontium and Cesium......................................."

Expert who worked at Sandia Labs: “TEPCO data suggest that fission is ongoing… This is bad news” — “Truly scary” that nobody in Japan seems to know basics of reactor accident progression

… Japanese regulators NISA and MEXT seem oblivious of the mysterious fact that I-131 Bq “reactor density” is still often reported double the Cs-134/137 Bq. The TEPCO data suggest that fission is ongoing despite the reactor shutdowns. This is bad news. …

Everyone with just a very basic understanding of reactor safety should know that once a reactor is scrammed, U-235 is no longer fissioning, and I-131 has no parent which can be decaying to create it in an ongoing process… the water circulating in intact SNF pools should have absolutely no detectable I-131 in them. …

t has been almost five full 8-day halflives for their I-131 to decay to stable xenon. At t=0, as we say, the Bq of I-131 and Cs-134 and Cs-137 would all be approximately equal, but, after five I-131 halflives, the “reactor density” radioactivity of I-131 should be only 1/2**5=~3% of what it was originally. Go look at all the data of relative radioactivity that TEPCO is reporting with dates of April 19, 2011 and you’ll see that instead of I-131 being below the levels of the two cesiums, I-131 is often twice as high as the two cesiums always reported.

The fact that nobody in Japan seems to know basics of reactor accident progression that I learned at Sandia Labs in early 1980s is truly scary, because it suggests they are playing with these broken/leaking reactors and SNF pools inside at least three buildings totally destroyed by steam explosions … as if the reactors and their SNF pools are broken toys that they’re using trial and error to try fixing.

Fairewinds: US news outlets said there’s “no threat to health” from Fukushima… The opposite of what all the studies say about radiation and cancer (VIDEO)

Epidemiologist, Dr. Steven Wing, Discusses Global Radiation Exposures and Consequences with Gundersen, Fairewinds Associates, April 21, 2011:

Epidemiologist, Dr. Steven Wing and nuclear engineer, Arnie Gundersen, discuss the consequences of the Fukushima radioactive fallout on Japan, the USA, and the world. What are the long-term health effects? What should the government(s) do to protect citizens?

Evacuation zone widened beyond 20 km from Fukushima nuclear plant

"The government on Friday added some towns outside a 20-kilometer radius of the crisis-hit Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant to the list of areas covered by its evacuation directive due to concerns over high cumulative levels of radiation exposure.

All residents in Iitate, Katsurao, Namie and some in Kawamata and Minamisoma in Fukushima Prefecture must leave by around late May, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said at a news conference. These residents total about 10,500 people, according to the government.

The announcement came a day after the government declared the 20-km zone around the tsunami-stricken plant a no-go area as the facility's operator, Tokyo Electric Power Co., struggles to meet its self-imposed goal of bringing the nuclear crisis under control within the next six to nine months................................" ........................

3. If there is Plutonium in the US why haven't environmental groups like Union of
Concerned Scientists issued a press release? With something like Plutonium wouldn't every environmental group be screaming from rooftops?

4. because the US EPA has been leaving it, and other radio-isotopes out of its public reports
the article explains this.

Better question for all, 'Where the hell is the UN in all this?"

This is exactly the type of situ they're essential for, not as sounding boards for the west to go and use sophistry as to why they must go and bomb brown people.

6. I wondered at the onset of this crisis why the UN wasn't on the ground at
Fukishima directly involved with the reactors given the global implications that were clear from the start so I agree with you.

However in regard to Plutonium in the US, would not universities and environmental groups have equipment to take these measurements? And given the info you provided, why hasn't that raised a hue and cry? My frustration is that as a layperson I have no idea how to interprete scientic data so I rely on trusted sources such as the Union of Concerned Scientists to so. The fact that they haven't makes me pause.
