Both Parties Tone Deaf or do they just listen only to Elites????
We have now seen what happens when the Parties
try to jerk the only Security Blanket a fearful
nation has right out of their shaky hands.

Whether the Crowd of Legislators in DC care
about the average Middle Income Americans or
not, there are too many of them to ignore.

We have an electorate who is in pain, lost or
still losing homes, losing jobs or already
unemployed. Many of these people are already
having to assist with the care of elderly parents.

What is DC doing? The Republicans have decided
this is time to hit them--Taking away the Social
Safety Net. The Democrats are not too far behind
with Obama and the Conservadems with their Me TOO
chorus. Reports everywhere the Conservademocrats
cannot yell loud enough--We want to make some cuts.

Democrats never miss the chance to make a losing move,
I am sorry.

We have that pesky poll --Country is on the wrong
track so the Republicans plow straight ahead doing
exactly what they accused Obama of doing the first
two years. Remember the chos and clamor. He is overreaching
He is overreaching. Now the Republicans have gone so
far right the American People cannot find them.

Both parties have now gone after their pet projects
while the American people are yelling--We are already
suffering, please get us some jobs and get the country
so we feel secure and good about our country. Stop with
the trying to do away the the Social Safety Net. If
you people in DC are so concerned about the cost of
Medicare, get a dose of Common Sense. Instead of looking
just what the overall programs cost the government---
LOOK AT THE MEDICAL INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX. YOU must first
bring down the cost of health care proceedures themselves.
Then Insurance cost can come down. Then Doctors will
not be limited in their care of paients. Hospitalization
will have to come down. and on and on.

Get some jobs. Republicans sound stupid at this point.
We are cutting taxes to get new Jobs. The American People
know the Republicans have been in charge and had the Presidency
for eight years. Gosh, with all the taxcuts, the waives not
to pay taxes, the subsidies to business the truth is more jobs
were lost and no where near an aveage amount of jobs were created.
We should not have had such a deep recession if taxcuts and big
favors to business create jobs. Democrats are feckless in
making this point and getting the message out.

Stop the presses!! Both Parties should dig in and get rid
of any red tape. Start Infrastructure Building. Common
Sense should tell both parties there is a time when an
eonomy is in such straits that the Government must intervene.
and supply jobs to keep money moving through every level
of the economy. Once folks are building, earning money, they
will spend it at the local eateries, local hardwares, beauty shop
etc. This movement will much more quickly entice the Private
sector to move and expand. This should be the bridge until
the Private sector picks up more steam than it has for the
past two years.

Fire you advisors in both parties. They are taking you down
the wrong track--just look at the Wrong Direction Poll.

Never try to take a security blanket away from a fearful child.
Do not try to take America's Social Safety Net away when
the people are the most insecure.

2. Yes. They only listen to Elites
Studies have shown that to be the case.

Regular, working-class Americans have had NO VOICE in their government for decades.

This isn't new.

5. they do test marketing, they test words and phrases
see which ones people respond to
they ask what you would like to see government doing,
tell us in your own words what is wrong with Washington?
etc. They do segmentation studies to see which combination of positions would be favored by a majority. They figure out how to split the opposition. (which is easy btw, if you want to split the Right talk about immigration, if you want to split the Left call Obama a corporatist

And then they make that into ads and campaign slogans
but it is just like any other ad campaign.

And when they get in, they do whatever the PTB need done.

Democracy as practiced here is a pacification program. Whichever side needs more pacifying "wins" a given election season. We won 2008, they won 2010. But the PTB never lose.

6. Yep
Vote for Democrats, and all your problems will be solved. Don't strike. Don't go out in the streets. Don't occupy capitols. Wisconsin almost got out of hand, but they fell for "Let's change our protest signs for clipboards! Everybody go home and resume being a cog in the system!"

In my better more hopeful moments, I hope that this is coming to an end, that we will soon see past the D/R left/right/ liberal/conservative matrix and realize that it's the bottom 99% against the top 1%.

7. I just hope the all 300 million of us understand that 100 families
own a large part of America and when they want something, they get it. When the working poor wants something, they are called leeches on society and told to work harder.

8. In the question, lies the answer:
"Both Parties Tone Deaf or do they just listen only to Elites????"

That's how it is these days, they have all bought into the crap ideology of corporatism, and they truly believe that the big corporations are the Source From Which All Good Things Flow.

It is hard for them not to believe it, since their paychecks depend upon their believing it -- or at least saying they believe it, and acting as if they believe it, which after all has the same effect. Also from time to time they have to face the mothers of young people who have lost their limbs or their lives defending "our way of life", which in reality amounts to defending the worldwide depredations of said corporations. Just remember that the next time you hear one of them defending "our troops, the best and bravest and wonderfulest citizens of all who fight to keep us safe! yes they do!".

I have nothing against our troops by the way, at least not most of them. They are pawns in this ridiculous and deadly game. But the truth is, our police actions around the world have nothing to do with protecting you and me and our way of life, and have everything to do with protecting the profits of our biggest corporations, who in turn have repaid Uncle Sam by removing their operations overseas, moving jobs overseas while cutting jobs here, and removing their profits to offshore tax havens so they don't have to pay Uncle Sam diddly squat.

And our politicians know all this, they just won't ever come out and say any of it. They're too busy playing their deeply cynical games, making all of us suffer because they don't want to rock the boat and they want to be part of the privileged group that gets to amass personal fortunes of funny money which in turn allows them to have multiple houses and yachts and what-have-you while we peons struggle daily and wonder what the hell happened to our way of life anyway? These yahoos don't care, they talk about education while building more prisons and they talk about being pro-life while continuing to feed the world's largest ever war machine and they talk about Christian values while screwing people out of their pensions and their medical care and ... it goes on and on.

Yes, they listen only to each other and the rest of the elite class. Sure they have some disagreements among themselves, but these pale in comparison to their unity in believing that the unwashed masses are ignorant and fundamentally expendable.

Well they will find out one of these fine days just who is expendable.

10. I'll take door #2, Bob.

50% of the electorate has figured it out.

Politics by non-electoral means is the only way that electoral politics can be made meaningful.

11. The anthrax scare, bomb scares in the Congressional offices were no mistake...
The checkpoints in public buildings, they effectively separated many Congresspeople from their constituents including Democrats.

Invitation only town halls, prescreened questions, they moved voting booths out of schools and into Churches and consolidated precincts so that it was no longer a small neighborhood area, then they need ID and security because nobody knows who is coming in the door, and made is so much easier to commit fraud on a bigger scale. How soon we forgot.

did I miss anything?
