"If we give citizenship to 20 million illegal immigrants they will all vote for Democrats".
said Pat Buchanan just now on the MCLaughlin Group. So that is what they're afraid of. It never occurred to me!

1. I've heard this from a few people since coming to Denver
This area seems mostly liberal but my luck has me run into all manner of repugs. I've heard a number of times that Obama plans to give amnesty to all the illegals so they can vote for him.... I just kind of shake my head and think WTF? Where do they get this crap?

2. I've heard this from teabaggin' kkkluckers.
They make it sound as if the illegals come here to vote. WTF?! That's it. Some of them are so stupid and ate up with the conservanazis lies, they believe illegals come here to vote. If I hadn't heard it more than once I wouldn't have believed it.

The conservanazi propaganda is being listened to by some real mental giants. Really.

3. Bukkkanan doesn't understand: They wouldn't vote Democratic because they're Democrats.
They'd vote Democratic because Republicans treat them like they're subhuman animals.

6. What a reason to deny citizenship. What is so upsetting is
the Republicans permit the yahoos to treat immigration
so disparagingly. You would think they might try to get
the Hispanics to give them some votes. Assuming every
Hispanic is illegal is not exactly the best way to make
friends.

7. But I'm sure Buchanan
and his fellow Repubs still don't mind having illegal immigrants cleaning their houses, or busing tables, washing dishes, valet parking and keeping the greens immaculately trimmed at their Country Clubs. :sarcasm:

9. Not to defend that ass, P. B. for a moment but, he did say
the way to put a dent in the illegal alien situation was to prosecute those who employ them. fwiw

11. Do you live in DC where you could see McLaughlin on Fridays?
Because I can only watch that show during weekend days on my PBS station. Thanks for warning me in advance; I wonder how Eleanor Clift would respond. I watched McLaughlin for the first time last weekend and liked it, and it's interesting how that show uses 1990s-style graphics for the news summary. And as for the citizenship thing, does Buchanan not realize that the "wet foot dry foot" law for Cuban refugees helped create a Republican voting bloc, as the Cuban-American vote leans Republican?

16. los angeles. I think Cuban Americans are a whole other ball game. It is
interesting, but McLaughlin is right wing, and sometimes he drowns everyone out with his awfulness. Eleanor is great as always.

13. Historically, amnesty is a Repug program
...whereby cheap labor is made more steadily available and therefore cheaper, and workers with no relation or notion of unions are made more numerous.

21. Ahh ... its one of the many things Reagan did as President that the far right ...
now conveniently forgets.

He gave actual, total, and complete, Amnesty to about 3 million illegal immigrants. There was no "path to citizenship", no "fines", no "go to the back of the line". Just poof, you're a citizen.

The far right does its best to forget this little piece of history in their deification of Reagan.

15. Good
There is no such thing as an illegal human being and any democrat should be proud to have the support of undocumented workers in this country. They are just as much a part of this country as you or me.
