Wisconsin DA's: Sorry Scott, you can't lay off the Prosecutors
http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/120524539.html

Wisconsin's elected district attorneys are warning that laying off or furloughing assistant prosecutors, as Gov. Scott Walker's administration has proposed, would be illegal without their consent and would substantially affect community safety.

Earlier this month, the state's Office of State Employment Relations announced that if assistant prosecutors didn't agree to take six more furlough days by June 30, there would be statewide layoffs in the form of reducing all prosecutors to part-time status, with commensurate loss of pay and benefits.

With a May 8 deadline fast approaching, the executive board of the Wisconsin District Attorneys Association stepped into the debate Thursday with a letter to Gregory L. Gracz, executive director of the Office of State Employment Relations. The letter states that neither the office nor the Department of Administration has authority to lay off prosecutors without the consent of their elected bosses.

I'm sure Walker would be feeling much more secure if the State's prosecutors were not there to slam his ass in jail.

2. Ah--the DA's have a UNION that Walker has to deal with....
No doubt, Walker and his poodles are having fits.....

....The association represents about 350 assistant district attorneys statewide, many of whom received letters Friday stating that the previous plan would take effect May 8 because no memo of understanding between the bargaining unit and state had been reached. It does not mention the revamped proposal and a plan to vote on it later.

4. What recourse does America have against these assholes?
And how far is too far? In the olden days, the sane citizenry would take care
of it themselves and slam his ass in jail, but there are far less of those today.
What can federal authorities do about a rogue state? Could martial law be
declared and the situation brought under control that way? Are they trying to
push Obama over the edge so he will be forced to do something, or can this
guy just do whatever he pleases since it's HIS state?

Lots of questions. Don't know the answers, but something needs to be
done about them. Cutting all federal funding would just hurt the citizenry
and open holes for private companies to fill even faster than they already
are.

5. Wisconsin is actually long on prisons and jails...
having a bed in a cage isn't a limiting problem.

The problem is that our reasonably civilized state is stunned by the gob-smacking audacity to rule everything by fiat. This particular problem popped up on my radar during one of the early protests in Madison. Much of what Walker wants to do is outside the purview of anyone but a dictator.

8. Bush and Cheney did the same and they got away
with their "executive" crap. No doubt, bush and cheney are Walker's idols.

10. Walker has stated that he seeks to emulate Reagan
Unfortunately Scott better emulates a raygun and he has never seen a public work he didn't want to blow up.

6. Keep alienating those that work for you Walker
Cause we'd like nothing more than to see them all work against you.
