Wisconsin - Data Entry needed to fight the Republican recall efforts

Data Entry Strike Force, ASSEMBLE!!!! The Republicans will submit their signatures on Thursday (4/21). It's time for us to check their work.

Location: Democratic Party Headquarters (110 King Street, Above Ancora Coffee in Madison).

Things to remember:

- Photo ID is required to enter signatures. Anyone who does not have a photo ID will not be able to enter data.
- Bring a laptop if you have one available. We may ask you to use it if we run out of computers in the office.
- Please sign up for as many shifts as possible. This is an all hands on deck effort!!!

I wish it were that simple!!

It's verifying the information.

The Republicans did not put a "print name" space - so it made it all the more difficult trying to decipher the signatures.

So basically - you get a sheet

You input the name of the "collector" & all of their information - address, whether they signed it, the date, Page Number.

then you enter in all the "names" collected on that sheet, along with address, whether they signed it, what municipality, date, etc...

To decipher the name we had to use whitepages and google etc - to input the address - if they put one and see if there was a name at that address that even remotely resembled the signature.


You're on the lookout for:

- improperly completed pages or signatures.
- signatures that "look similar" - like spousal signatures, or if one person signed a bunch of names (there were very few of those when I was there. I didn't find any, but some others may have)
- any other "flags" - incomplete dates, wrong municipality, etc...


It's VERY slow going. The good news is - there were so many people there!

There are two data entry efforts underway that can be confused:

1. This weekend - Urgent need to enter signatures gathered to recall Democrats so they can be verified and/or challenged. See below.
This is a time limited action. This is at 110 King Street above Ankorra Coffee. Joe and Maryann and myself will staff the 6-9 p.m. shift tonight. Please join us or choose another shift this weekend. If you can type, you can make an important contribution.

2. About 1/3 of the volunteer data gathered at rallies and during other events has been entered. Many of the signatures were gathered by Unions. This is on-going and occurs at 211 S. Patterson Street. Shifts there have been suspended for the weekend so that people can participate in the effort above. If you have an hour here and there, all those people need to be entered so they can stay connected and involved.

I just showed up last night at 110 King St. (These are Madison addresses) They did say they had had tremendous response and there was hardly room for everyone last night. Not enough computers to go around if people hadn't brought their own!!

The RSVP website has been taken down, so this appears to be a true statement! So many volunteers showed up Friday and Saturday the line went way down the block, and the committee had to turn many away! WOW.
