As global warming starts heating up the polar region, expect in the next 10 years to see plans to colonize Antarctica
As much as we want to prevent this, we can't
We have a lot in common with virii, in that we don't know when to stop growing
So, knowing this, how should be proceed?

1. Alright! Britain has one sixth of Antarctica....yeah |
|
Yeah I'm being pretty sarcastic, but still. And just so you know, there is some sort of a ban/moratorium on settling and drilling on that continent. This ban lasts for another few decades or so. I reckon we are good until then at least.

2. I am aware of the ban. And I am aware of human nature. |
|
A group of folks from somewhere are going to board a plane, go there and set up shop
More will come, and more will build
You can't stop human nature, as much as you and I would want to...

3. ISTR that the inner portions of Antarctica are actually getting *colder*.. |
|
The ocean surrounding Antarctica is warming but Antarctica is a continent and a considerable portion of it is actually cooling off.

6. The possibility highlights the ignorance of climate change |
|
Despite the fact that we know human activity is causing a climate change, not all folks understand it is not necessarily a 'warming' trend
For example, the Arcic Ice shelf breaks up and sinks in the Atlantic
Europe goes through Ice Age-like weather for 10 or so years, as the water has been greatly cooled
