Mom Protests Son's School Referral By Painting Van

APOPKA, Fla. -- A Central Florida mom is fighting back after she said her son got into trouble at school for saying the word "lesbian."

She protested it by painting "lesbians rock" on her van.

She said her son, Kevin, got into a fight with a girl in the lunchroom. She said the girl called Kevin "gay," then he called her a "lesbian."

Fitzgerald showed Local 6 the classroom referral the fifth grade teacher at Clarcona Elementary sent home.

Under the title "incident type," the teacher circled, "inappropriate language" on the referral sheet.

It doesnt seem like her son meant that "Lesbians Rock, when he called a classmate Lesbian. Sounded like he was trying to insult the classmate.
