Gov. Walker takes credit for creating 254 jobs that were created by Dem Governor last year...
Edited on Mon Apr-25-11 08:31 AM by eowyn_of_rohan
Walker recently took credit in a widely reported press conference for creating 125 jobs at a state manufacturing plant (Curt Manufacturing near Eau Claire), even though then-Gov. Jim Doyle (a Democrat) announced the same new jobs back in December.

"It's great to see Gov. Walker supporting one of the economic development projects of the Doyle administration," said former Commerce Secretary Aaron Olver, a Doyle appointee who is now working for the city of Madison.

..."This project directly creates 125 new jobs and indirectly creates 129 jobs, resulting in $12.6 million in annual wages right here in Wisconsin," Walker said in a news release. "By providing these funds, we are bringing quality jobs to Wisconsin while improving road access to Curt Manufacturing's expanded facility."

...In a Dec. 16 news release, the Department of Commerce announced the Doyle administration was awarding Curt Manufacturing $400,000 in tax credits and $11 million in tax-free bonds under a program created by the federal government's 2009 stimulus package. In addition, state commerce officials said Altoona was receiving a $256,545 grant to upgrade a city road next to the company.

1. If a state governor's boasting about adding 254 jobs to a state, he's setting a low bar. (nt)

4. He's promised to create 1,000 times that many
during his first term. He'll have to pick up the pace a bit. So far he has lost thousands of jobs by rejecting the high-speed rail money. He did announce that he coaxed a firm to move its Illinois factory a few miles across the border to Wisconsin, but the workers will just have to drive a bit further and will still pay taxes to Illinois. That's our delusional governor.

5. 11.4 million to create 125 jobs -- that pay an average of 91K (my heinie!) ?
The math is messed up. Just pay 250 people 45.5 K per year to stay home.

6. The WI Democrats really need to job on this fast. All it takes is for Walker to keep repeating the
lie! Dems need to keep repeating the fact that Walker was left with a budget surplus and that he has NOT created one job! The only thing he has done is give away to his big corporate friends!

I swear, the Democrats need to stay on message or risk losing everything!
