Men face hate crime charges in Yuba County attack

Two Yuba County men face hate crime charges after they were arrested on suspicion of assaulting a black woman and white man at a convenience store.

Yuba County Sheriff Steve Durfor says the April 18 late-night attack at the Full Stop Market in Linda is believed to be racially motivated.

Durfor says 25-year-old Perry Jackson was arrested Monday and 30-year-old Anthony Tyler was arrested Friday. Authorities are looking for a third suspect, 27-year-old Billy Hammett.

The Appeal-Democrat of Marysville reports that Hammett was identified as a member of the Supreme White Power gang when he was sentenced in 2006 to six years in prison for beating an elderly black man.
