Lots of normal people would pay $23 for a book.

But $23.7 million (plus $3.99 shipping) for a scientific book about flies!?

This unthinkable sticker price for "The Making of a Fly" on Amazon.com was spotted on April 18 by Michael Eisen, an evolutionary biologist and blogger.

-----

Instead, it appears it was sparked by a robot price war.

As someone who sometimes sells 1 used book or DVD on Amazon I hate those F'ing robot pricing programs!

1. I almost bought a copy
But then I found out shipping wasn't free, which kills the deal, so I passed.

2. If he sells one, and the seller defaults before paying, shouldn't they both get a bailout?
This is what the government did for the banksters, after all.

How sad for him and his prospective buyer that they're not big enough to be too big to fail.

5. I saw a really expensive book once on Alibris.
Under rare books on their website.
Perfect gift for the techie who has everything.
A first edition of "Celestial Mechanics" in French by Pierre Simon Laplace, published in the 1840s.
It was a multi-volume set priced at $15,000.00

6. I should price all of my books that way!
I'd only need to sell one copy of one book. Most of mine are priced at $2.99, and now I feel so stupid.
