I know the real reason Trump is beating the Birther drum...
Because he has...nothing.

Trump has simply nothing to campaign on, against Obama.

1. Yup.
That's what they all do, when they have nothing.

6. Plus it's really creepy on his show how his adult children sit stiff and quietly by his side,
I wonder if they are aliens.

11. Actually, it's only racism if the same people
had a huge problem with Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powell (two Republicans) and a whole host of other Black/African American politicians.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:African_American_politicians

Was "racism" the reason they went after Bill Clinton as rabidly as they did?

Of course not.

Had he been black, though, that's the Anthem we would have heard ad nauseum from some on this side. RACISM!!!

Like it's totally impossible for people to hate someone for any other reason than their race.

16. So you are the racist expert? Well, you're WRONG
Edited on Tue Apr-26-11 12:10 PM by Mojeoux
So what if Trump "had no problem" with Rice and Powell and the Host of other African American Pols.
Racists get along fine with compilable, team player, blacks WHO HAVE MONEY.

Trump is a racist of convenience. He sees the GAME being played and plays along for the rabble rousing power of the ride.

Inherently of course Trump is pathetically smeared with Class-ism. That's why he could hang with Powell and Rice, they have power and money.

Obama has had 400 times as many death threats to him , and his wife and children, than any other sitting POTUS in American History.
Mr. Racist Expert do think those threats are from people who are NOT racist?

Birther shit is code. Smirk smirk, wink, wink, It's like arguments against misogyny, baseless and Racist as hell.

Homophobes don't really believe that Gays will harm the institution of marriage, they just HATE gays.

7. I thought/think he's just trying to extract every last bit of the right's factions.
Edited on Tue Apr-26-11 02:31 AM by Populist_Prole
Look. He has the support of the plutocrats, always did, and always will. The birther thing is just a way of making sure he'll get the nutjob vote. Given his profile as an unabashed autocratic rich prick, he may fear his reputation may preclude the working class from voting for him. If he can wring out any or every last bit of socially/racially motivated sentiment, so much the better; as he sees it. It's really a low risk strategy: Anyone turned off by his birther nonsense is either "too liberal" and not likely to vote for him anyway...or economically conervative enough to overlook it in order to promote a plutocratic agenda...the ends justifying the means.

9. I'm still of the opinion that he isn't actually running
He's just doing for free advertising to bump up the falling ratings for his joke of a TV show. Once a con man, always a con man.

10. The sanest candidate on the GOP side
wears magic underpants and believes that he's going to become a god when he dies and get a planet to rule over. After that, it's all downhill -- and pretty quickly too.

21. I think something like 51% are "birthers" in one poll I saw.
When you divide the bigots up between all the choices they have on the menu in the GOP primary, I don't think he'd win. They have too many yummy selections to pick from this time around. I actually will be surprised to see him take this that far. He's not serious IMO. He's just sucking up tons of free airtime and jacking-up his bottom line for his upcoming television programs contract negotiations.

20. Yep. That's the entire core of his platform. "He wasn't born in the US! Vote Trump!"
Which goes to show he's not serious about running. He's just getting tons of free attention and boosting ratings for his television program.

22. That really is the answer, he refers to Robert DeNiro as "not exactly an Einstein" but that's just
projection. We all know who and what Trump is, he proves it every time he opens his big, fat, pompous, lying mouth.
