3. I'd love to hear who made that call. Not really profane in the
context he was using it. We don't even really like to think of most "teabaggers" actually teabagging. I actually just threw up in my mouth a little just typing that!

8. yeah it must just be me thats not getting it,
Because EVERY DAY that the networks and cables continue to self-censor is proof that even Americas major corporations don't believe the notion that corporations are Persons, with protected free speech in the public square.

If you can't win an argument when the other side is making your case FOR you, you're just not trying hard enough.

20. What a corporatoin chooses to allow on their own broadcast is not an issue of free speech.
And has nothing to do with whether or not they are "persons".

The First Amendment was adopted on December 15, 1791. The Amendment states:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

24. your point is well made.
Its not what they CHOOSE to say or not say, its what they are NOT ALLOWED by LAW to say, was the point I was getting at...the way the thought process was working inside my own little head, was as as follows:

I am (insert company X here). I have free speech in the public square in the form of cash as political speech, that can't really be hindered, because of the argument that company X is a protected Person, with certain unbridgeable Rights.

Except when someone wants to go on my broadcast, and say any of several words that the Govt. has decided I AM NOT allowed too say, and Company X agrees with that assessment. (for whatever reason).

As long as the cables continue to willingly adhere to things like Standards and Practices guidelines, they are stating that they are NOT, in fact Persons with the ability to say whatever the hell they want, when they want to, where they want to. You and I, as actual Persons, are allowed to go stand in the street and let everyone else know what jackasses we are, Fox News...not so much. My point was, that Fox News KNOWS it just as well as you or I do , and they prove it everyday.

If NBC or TNT or USA Network decided, at a Corporate level, that they were simply going to ignore the decency rules, and allow Mr. Carlin's 7 words to be spoken on their network, (as an act of Civil Disobedience=)) and were willing to pay the fines for violating that particular law, at least then they would be re-reinforcing the notion that they are, in fact, a Constitutional Person with an unbridgeable right to say whatever the hell they want. (and commit acts of Civil Disobedience). I might still call it bullshit, but at least then I would think they were willing to put their money where their mouth is, to coin a phrase=)

9. I bet if you asked a hundred people on the street in most small towns in America
what teabagging is they would have no idea there was anything related to mouths and scrotums.

They probably have never heard of it in any other use than the way the Tea Party uses it.

Hardly seems like a reason to censor the word. It seems like more of an expression of the mindset of the censor than anything else.

That whole thing reminds me of the censoring of the Smothers Brothers.

12. That's rather silly since the teabaggers CAME UP WITH THE TERM for themselves.
They only changed it to "tea party" after MONTHS of people telling them what "teabagging" means. It takes a while for shit to get through their thick skulls.

17. They've rewritten their own history about it.
Ask any teabagger -- they'll tell you WE came up with the term and started calling them that to make fun of them. To them, they have always been the 'Tea Party'.

Origin of the term "Teabaggers"? It came from the movement itself, when they asked people to "teabag" Obama by sending symbolic teabags, apparently ignorant of the college prank of the same name. This was all well documented, including here: http://www.lemondrop.com/2009/04/10/gop-wants-to-teabag-barack-obama If they don't want to be called Teabaggers, they shouldn't use "teabag" as a verb, as found on their t-shirts or signs which are easily seen in Google Images searches. It's pretty basic to call someone who teabags a teabagger, so I'm surprised some are now taking offense. Maybe there is a split between the teabaggers on this issue?
