They're going to be stacking the meetings to their advantage. Repugs are not going to let happen to them what happened to the Democrats in '09 and '10.

1. You can do that, or . . . .
Get a small group together, and be sure to film it when you're denied entry to an "open" meeting of concerned citizens. Contact the local media; even the most die-hard Republican outlet can be moved by patent unfairness. Be polite and respectful, but be firm in your insistence on your right to be heard by your elected representative.

3. Had an enjoyable Townhall today
with my Representative Braley. We went through an exercise to reduce the deficit/debt. Lots of support for rolling back the tax cuts for everyone (rolling back for the rich was a no brainer). Also broad support for removing the S.S. cap. Ditto on a 4% surtax of very high earners. Oldsters supported raising S.S. retirement age to 70 (I did not get a chance to speak but I was tempted to say that for most of your earning lives your withholding rate was at 1/2 to 2/3 of mine, and you propose increasing the age from 65 when you retired to 70????

Freezing Defense spending was also popular. Typically most folks at my table were voting their interests (serviceman did not want a Defense freeze and to maintain TRICARE as currently structured, the students wanted to put the Pell grant money back in).

On average the groups came up with around $3T over 10 years.
