"Enemies" as in political enemies. Obama understands that Petraeus would be the strongest Repub to run against him if he were to run. So give him a plum position that he covets.

Army and was the top general in Iraq is apolitical? Stanley McCrystal is said to have hated Fox News, what is his political party? Patraeus' seems to be a good ladder climber, get high but don't take ultimate responsibility. I am doubtful that he wants to be President when he can influence Presidents.

Kinda surprised, but not really.
Petraeus is getting some experience on the non-military side of the house. Still I think it is too late for a 2012 run.... (Probably much to POTUS relief)

Because i was rememering something about him being dirty. It was about Ted Westhusing's death and the fact he was going to expose a bunch of stuff about what was going on there and that both of the generals knew bout it. Petraeus was his boss.
What gets me about the story is why would he kill himself if he had only one month to go, wife and 3 kids.
Either they killed him or he couldnt live with how corrupt everything he had worked for was. Being a col. He was at the top.
Whatever the reason it makes me wonder how corrupt of a cia head we will have.....
