The Yahoos say it's fake because it doesn't say Negro.
Facepalm.

By the way, even if the claim is true, that it would say negro in 1961, I imagine it would say negro for a black American, but since his father was from Africa, they put African to differentiate.

1. The reason Afro-Caribbean folks insist on being
called Africans is because white people called us Negroes (descendants of slaves) but we're simply descendants of Africans.

2. Hawaii is not like the mainland
Given the Hawaii's ethnic make-up, I would be very surprised if, even in 1961, the state did not use its own terminology to describe the race of children of mixed marriages.

5. and Hawaii (as a state) was VERY new in 1961..
It's possible that the people in charge of things like that used whatever terminology THEY grew up with. "African" was accurate enough for them, especially since he was not a citizen. Had he been a white African, they would have skipped over it and listed caucasian.
