Tea Party Nation fail: Only bombshell is that Obama's mom was underage
Edited on Wed Apr-27-11 11:00 AM by ck4829
Following the release of President Obama’s long-form birth certificate, which yet again confirmed that he was in fact born in the United States, Judson Phillips of Tea Party Nation now wants to know if Obama was “attending school on a scholarship reserved for foreign students.” Echoing Donald Trump, who not only said he was investigating Obama’s birthplace but also his supposedly “terrible” academic credentials, Judson demanded Obama release his college records because “many believe Obama went to college there on a scholarship reserved for foreign students.” But Judson couldn’t help himself with fanning the flames of the birth conspiracy, saying that while there were “no bombshells” except for “the possibility that Obama’s mother might have been a few days underage at the time of conception, why did Obama spend millions of dollars to keep this document secret?”

Democrats are hailing this as a huge defeat for the Republicans. It isn’t, but they are very good at messaging.

However, there is a very serious question to be asked. Since there are no bombshells here, except the possibility that Obama’s mother might have been a few days underage at the time of the conception, the question remains, why did Obama spend millions of dollars to keep this document secret?

Age of consent in Hawaii is 16.

Also looks like Judson, teatotalitarian prime, wants to steer the Tea Party away from the birth certificate thing ASAP. Just remember that. *wink*

1. So what. My mother was just turned 17 when I was born in 1964.
Big deal.

2. The age of consent in most teabagger states is 16.
I'm guessing they would prefer it to be 12.

8. Only if one party is a member of the clergy
Other than that, no. To social conservatives (actually, to most americans, including those who post here) sex is BAD. Further, women and children, like minorities, need to know their proper place as what might best be described as semi-intelligent property.

Female children remain children until ownership is transfered to another man through the church sanctioned transaction of marriage. An "underaged" girl is NEVER entitled to ownership of her own body. Her body is, in fact, sinful and should be hidden from society. Even taking a photo of her own body, even if only for herself, is a FELONY. She does not have the right to decide who she will display herself to, she must hide the uglyness of her female body from society. She does not have the right to decide who her boyfriends will be, or what level of intimacy they share.

I happen to disagree.

I believe that EVERYONE has the right to self-determination, meaning that they have the right to make decisions about themselves from the moment that they are capable of expressing those intentions and acting upon them. If a teenager wants to have a job, then by god he or she should not be stopped by society, and certainly not under the guise of some moral code. If a twelve year old girl sends pictures she took of her own body to a boyfriend, in my mind it is her body and her right and I cannot conceive of a moral or legal code that classifies this as a crime. By what right?

7. Unfortunately the lies get repeated until the uninformed (i.e. most voters) start to believe them
That's the publican game - tell lies, tell them often, and before you know it everyone who doesn't know any better will start to have at least a little bit of doubt about voting for a candidate. That's exactly how John Kerry got swift boated, the lies were eventually exposed but in the interim people had that story in the back of their heads and had doubts about John Kerry as a person.

12. The figure seems to come from FEC records
which apparently show receipts paid by 'Obama For America' to the law firm Perkins Coie for over $2 million. No evidence that these fees were related to the birth certificate at all, but since when did facts matter to the Birthers?

13. some are insane and others simply don't care about the truth b/c this is a useful distraction
if they thought their audience (including the media) might run with the accusation that Obama was one of the Roswell aliens, they'd be arguing that as well.

9. They will never be satisfied, no matter what Obama reveals/releases
Now the teabaggers will claim the birth certificate is a fake or altered. Now they will move on to other "controversies."

Wasn't Obama president of the Harvard Law Review? Teabaggers will most likely claim he got that through Affirmative Action, implying he didn't earn it. :eyes:

There is no satisfying these people.
