I have to share what I wrote about our state on one of our local news stations' Facebook pages...
I live in Oklahoma, as a reference, and there was a Facebook comment about the Birth Certificate being released. On woman, whom I reference named Terrie, said something about how she reads the bible or some shit. In another Terrie said something about a party that wants to take God out of everything including the pledge of allegience, and then someone named Julie said something about how she wish stupid hurt. Here's what I said:

"I am so ashamed of how our state thinks it is so awesome to be so ignorant and uninformed. No one cares about your religion, Terrie. I'm more concerned about the kids in this country who are going to bed hungry, the fact that jobs are scarce and that while all of that is happening we're encouraging our government to give more and more "tax cuts" to companies who have no intention of creating jobs with that money. I'm concerned that there are people wiping their butts with dollar bills while there are veterans sleeping on the street. Julie, stupid does hurt, but it hurts those of us who aren't stupid because the stupid are oblivious. I've lived in this state my whole life, and I have noticed that the only time anyone cares about anyone else is when there is a natural disaster or a tragedy and they can show off how "generous" they are. It's the EVERY DAY part that you "Christians" forget about. When you start living the way Jesus told you to instead of building mega churches and talking down to people who don't make as much money as you do, THEN and only THEN will I take anything any of you say about religion seriously. I urge you to read a book written by one of our founding fathers and the Treaty of Tripoli. Learn a little bit about what the founding fathers really wanted this nation to be, because none of you have a clue. Oh, and Terrie, God wasn't added to the pledge of allegiance until the 50s. Google it if you don't believe me."

I got several likes and a Right On from another Progressive here. We're here, and we're getting louder and bigger. If the democrats in this state would start voting, we might actually take this freaking state back. We're going down the rabbit hole in this state, and I'm terrified of what is going to happen next.
Well, thought I'd share...

1. This is what we need. People talking to otherr people and, without
insulting them personally, giving them some perspective, especially with facts and information.

2. Things in Oklahoma are not going to change
By themselves, that is. There's a lot of anger and disillusion in the country right now. The Republicans keep yammering that the reason people find themselves in a fix is because of that uppity black man in the White House. We have to point out to folks that their situation is deteriorating because the wealthy are robbing them blind.

5. Exactly right!
And the rich have been robbing them blind for decades.

If only they would/could see!

3. Well said.
Being gay and having been harassed repeatedly and some times violently, I have to say I have gotten to the point where I wish the kkkreestins would share the fate handed out by Rome.
