Indiana legislature approves statewide school voucher program
Edited on Wed Apr-27-11 05:13 PM by The Northerner
(Reuters) - The Indiana legislature approved bills on Wednesday that would usher in sweeping changes to the state's educational system by creating a statewide private school voucher program and expanding the state's charter school program.

The Republican-controlled House voted 55-43 on Wednesday to approve the voucher plan that will allow eligible low-income and middle-income families to use taxpayer dollars to send their children to private schools.

Republican Governor Mitch Daniels, who is considering a run for the White House, praised the General Assembly vote.

"Their political courage and their commitment to a great education for every single child deserve the thanks not just of parents but of every citizen; Indiana has a far brighter future because of them," Daniels said.

Perhaps this will flip the Indiana legislature from R to D for the foreseeable future when the voters realize what has been imposed upon them?

I certainly hope so.

4. Maybe or maybe not, but your post is too far over the top
Calling each and every soul in Indiana a "redneck" based upon the outcome of an election is complete BS.

5. You seem to be under the mistaken impression that simple things like...
...facts and knowledge are sufficient to get people to change their vote. Hint: They're not. This state is probably going to stay red as can be, but don't think for a second there aren't a plethora of us here who DON'T fit that stereotype.
