House Republicans To Read Constitution Aloud
December 31, 2010

With a nod to the Tea Party, the Republicans taking over the House of Representatives next week will read the Constitution aloud, in its entirety. It's something that has never been done in the chamber's 221-year history. Many in the Tea Party feel Congress has strayed far from the country's founding principles.

They wave it around as if it were a talisman that will banish the "librul-soshulist" evil demons.

12. As I read about Congress critters reading the Constitution I can't help
recall the line from A Fish Called Wanda......between Jamie Lee Curits and Kevin Klein......

Klein: monkeys don't read Nietche. (wrong spelling I know)

Curtis: yes they do. they just don't understand it.

They may be able to read it, but understanding it is another issue entirely.

I can read most of a medical text book.....I don't understand squat from it....but I can read it.

26. or as someone else already put it
... they read and "understood" the constitution in the same way they claim to have read and understood the Bible; they began reading it knowing what they knew and what they wanted it to say, so that must be what it says.

Apparently they have already decided that the word Welfare in General Welfare does not mean the welfare of actual people.

13. This will probably be the first time many of them have read it at all.
There's some stuff in there that might surprise them, like the part about promoting the general welfare and where it says there shall be no religious test for any public office.

that any of them will be there listening it. I think they will take turns in an empty chamber. Only the poor clerks will have to listen to it.

23. There Should Be A Camera On The Crowd At The Time.......
...........so it can capture all the confused/dumbfounded looks on the faces of the Republicans as they go, "What?" and "THAT'S in there???" And then afterward when some of them stand up and shout, "You forgot to read the part where it mentions the Bible!!!"
