Woodward says Donald Trump came on the scene
Edited on Thu Apr-28-11 06:19 AM by malaise
to be the new Joe McCarthy - make assertions with no evidence.

Wow!

He's nailed the media for allowing Trump to continue this manufactured controversy.

Poor Mika and Joe scum are shocked that the President held a press conference over this. They are really missing the point.

Woodward says the President has news conferences every day and they do not receive this level of intense coverage.

Excellent

1. Joe and Mika were absolutely clueless. Are they really that out of touch?
Or do they know that Obama took a dig on this score at Chuck the Toad and perhaps were defending him?

Woodward drives me nuts with his fumbling about, but at least he had it right.

8. Clueless or pretending to be clueless?
I have to say that about 90% of the stuff I hear from Republicans or their pundits sounds like Intentional Cluelessness designed to manipulate the low info voters.

2. In defense of the media, they did break away from Trump now and again...
to cover the Royal Wedding.

:sarcasm:

3. He put them on the defensive about giving lies equal importance to facts
They got very righteous for the short time they unglued their lips from the the British royalty ass. Mika was all haughtily offended at Woodward's criticism of the media.

7. This whole "issue" is like Mexican Wrestling - a spectacle to distract the campesinos y pobres.
It's completely lost its entertainment value, and never was newsworthy, other than as an example of how impoverished American politics and the mass media have become. Why any serious person continues to pay attention to it is beyond me. Maybe a cultural anthropologist can explain it.

9. Actually no, it is typical Karl Rove Style Big Lie
Edited on Thu Apr-28-11 09:07 AM by emulatorloo
As in Clinton killed Vince Foster, John Kerry shot himself in Viet-Nam. With a big ole dollop of racism thrown on top

It is pretty much one sided,

Mexican Wrestling analogy suggests collusion between Birthers and Obama. Sorry, not buying it.

12. American politics is largely a spectacle designed to obscure the transfer of money, upwards.
I think most of the participants have no perspective whatsoever and are unaware of their role or how farcical the sport has become. So I'm not suggesting conscious collusion, in many instances, just that Washington is a sick spectacle sports arena, like the gladiatorial contests of Rome.

I'm sure most of the gladiators took their jobs seriously, too. Mexican wrestlers? Maybe that metaphor is too light-hearted.

14. Look at who promoted birtherism
Media and Republicans. They are responsible for 90% of the "spectacle" out there. Republicans certainly know what they are doing. Media is either in collusion or they are so scared of being called biased that they are afraid to fact check anything that comes from Republicans. Probably some of both.

I understand your point completely, I think we are in disagreement as to where most of the responsiblity lies.

I also understand the argument behind imaging that the entire thing is a spectacle concocted by all the participants. I disagree with that argument.

Thanks for discussing this with me.

10. The world is upside down
People are no longer innocent until proven guilty.
The rabid right has placed the burden on the accused to prove their innocence to any crack pot charge and no one is paying attention.

Typical assholery. Yeah, it's Obama's fault the birthers talked shit about him and he had to respond to their racism.
