I know i'm a little late for the show, but if mom had gone off to backpack around Europe after college, met a dude, got pregnant and had me in say, Germany, I can't be President? Because, since Obama's mom was a citizen raised in Kansas, are not her offspring American citizens?

irrespective of the nonexistence of fact to support the legal argument, is that the Constitution, in addition to requiring citizenship specifically states that the President must have been born in the United States.
Naturalized citizens cannot run for President.
It could be argued that the framers never intended children of U.S. citizens to be excluded, but that is just an argument, and absent a Constitutional Amendment or a U. S. Supreme Court opinion on the matter, it will remain an unclear point of law.
But the point of law is mute with regard to Obama because he was born in the United States.
Compare John McCain, who having been born of parents who were United States citizens is clearly a United States citizen himself, but having been born in Panama (OK, the Canal Zone which was then for some purposes part of the United States which adds another layer of confusion) the legal issue could legitimately be raised because the facts fit within the area of constitutional ambiguity, whereas with regard to Obama they do not.

They both were born in Canada. I and their father are American born. My sons are both Canadian and American..
My sons have both a US passport and a Canadian passport. They both went, at age 18, to the American consul and registered for selective service.
I myself am now a Canadian naturalized. I have only a Canadian passport. I don't want an American passport.
Does this answer your question?
