Georgia GOPer Pushes Bill For Taxes To Be Paid In Gold And Silver |
|
Edited on Fri Dec-31-10 02:41 PM by RandySF
Georgia state Rep. Bobby Franklin (R) has sponsored legislation to force the state to conduct all monetary transactions with U.S. gold or silver coins. The "Constitutional Tender Act" argues that the Constitution "'provides that no state shall 'make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts.'" http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/12/georgia-goper-pushes-bill-for-taxes-to-be-paid-in-gold-and-silver.php?ref=fpblg

3. Good luck in getting enough gold and silver coins |
|
to cover state expenditures.
And how would the coins be valued-- by intrinsic value (which changes day-to-day), or face value (which is only a fraction of the market value of the precious metal in the coins)?

We're sorry, but the gold you sent us tuesday isn't worth enough to cover your taxes when it arrived at our office on Thursday. Please send more gold immediately or we'll start charging interest (also only payable in gold).

4. I wish these idiots would just not pay their taxes and take the consequences themselves. |
|
Instead they have to drag eveyone else into their schemes.
