Why do some white people in America, still want to make black people feel "not good enough"?
I'm a gay man who understands the "not good enough" issue, completely. Yesterday was a sad day in American

history. I am proud to be an American, an American who accepts everyone for who they are. I don't understand, really, the mind set of those who must put others down to make themselves feel better about who and what they are.

Why are they so afraid? What do certain (white men especially), fear from our black brothers and sisters?

Why do they feel the need to dehumanize those, whose only difference, is skin color? I have never understood the hatred, especially from those who allege that they are (Christians) or have some other, chosen religious belief system, and yet they hate.

Those who choose to live their lives this way, the birchers, the birthers, the tenthers, the swiftboaters, the whitepower crazies, the secessionists, the Klan, the general all around haters, these are the people who should be ashamed, they are the ones who should be ostracized, they should be todays "Lepers".

They are "Un American", traitors to this country, keeping it divided and ugly. Spewing hate and lies all across this nation each and every day, pitting white against black, black against latino, Christian against Muslim, and Democrat against Republicon. I can think of many more, but you get the point.

As for the media, they are nothing less than charlatans, keeping hate alive in this country for their corporate masters, the white man millionaires and billionaires who control the information forced on all of us.

Every time they give air time to a hateful person, a racist, to spew their lies and propaganda, they are no better than the racist themselves. They foment hate, push for the crazy in order to get ratings and do no good for this nation.

We no longer have news organizations, we have talking heads who read script prepared by those who want to push this nation in a certain direction, the stories are designed to get reaction, not to impart the truth. There are very few Journalists left, who go out, get the "facts" and share them with We the People to educate and update us on what is going on in our country and around the world.

Today, we get propaganda, lies, half truths, innuendo and prepared comments, usually just read into the camera by a person to get their corporate pay check at the end of the week. The only way to get the facts these days, is to search for them on the internet and validate all information spoken at us by those on corporate television.

There have been a lot of ugly, sad, firsts, since our first black President won the election to lead this nation, and most have been lies and outright racist, and anyone who isn't in denial, or a racist themselves, knows that this is the truth.

The first time I ever saw open carrying of firearms at a political gathering, where the President was going to speak, our President was black,

the first time any issue related to birth documents occurred, our President was black,

the first time birther bills appeared in several states, our President was black,

the first time foreskins were ever considered as legitimizing a person to run for the Presidency, our President was black,

the first time a President was called out for "putting his feet" on the "White Peoples" desk, the president was black,

there's always been "driving while black", but I don't think the President has to worry about that one anymore, but I'm sure if President Obama decided to drive down Pennsylvania Avenue tomorrow, that would also be a first for a President, a black President of course,

the first time any President has been portrayed as a monkey, the President was black,

the first time anyone ever shouted from the floor of congress "you lie" in utter disrespect for a President, the President was black,

the first time a President was called a racist, the President was black,

the first time "second amendment remedies" were talked about, in case their white, racist, votes didn't win the election, the President was black,

the first time people protested with signs that said, "this time we came unarmed, the President was black,

even in the primaries, remember those "super delegates" when did you ever hear of "Super delegates" other than when the candidate running, was black?

I mean come on people, I could do this all day and it doesn't make me feel good about the white race of haters and ignorant racists in this country, it really makes me ill.

I am sorry for this country, that with all of the past battles, fights and wars that we have in engaged in over the years, the hard fought wins for equality and fairness in this country, that this is how far we've sunk. And with all of the current battles going on in the world, some here, choose to battle among us, their own people, to hate, to disenfranchise, to make less than, to make them feel as though they are not good enough.

When, if ever, will they stop blowing the dog whistles of hate, using the code words for hate, and committing the violence of hate? Will we ever really become a united people, in the alleged, United States of America?

Lou

1. Lou, I don't think the Republicans will ever stop using thinly veiled racism. They know how to
manipulate people from a very dark angle.

IMO, the answer is to reach out to people from the other direction that is filled with light.

2. They're called racists, figure that out yet?
The racists are so stupid they vote against their own interests every time too. The racists hate everybody including themselves.

3. Happy to recommend. Although "Chimpy McCokespoon" was a favorite
nickname for Bush around these parts a few years back. It doesn't make it right. The nationwide racist attitude towards the president blows my mind.

7. Yeah, I was going to post that that one probably doesn't hold water.

Many people I knew referred to Bush as Chimp. Then there were the DUers who used "Chimperor".

15. And Abraham Lincoln was called
The Original Gorilla. Of course, there were folks in those days who accused him of being black. So I suppose that nickname was a form of racism as well.

5. It galls them that someone who they consider beneath them has risen above them.
In the same way that it galls them when women or other minorities make gains, such as in higher education, or basic civil rights issues, etc. They always have to have the upper hand, and they cannot *stand* it when someone that they consider beneath them wins.

6. People always want somebody they can feel superior to. At least, the vast majority of people do.

I wonder if maybe it's human nature.

Great post. I agree--the lack of respect for our president is appalling.

8. Probably
because they do not feel good enough.

Maybe they are afraid of true equality. Blacks with equal opportunities might make them feel inferior.

10. "Those people" aren't deserving

of college entry, much less scholarships (unless they're athletic), regardless if they're actually qualified or not. The Gratz vs. Bollinger (U. of Michigan Supreme Court) case was one of many examples that showed that. In the plaintiff's case, she screamed bloody murder over the fact that 85 black students were admitted with lower test scores, but had NOTHING to say of the fact that over 1000 white students with lower test scores that were admitted. It was the fact that "those people" took her slot and they weren't gonna get away with that!

It was/is about race. :(

11. As a white person who grew up in rural Pennsylvania I'd like to take a stab at this answer
It's simple - the census has shown a trend towards the white race becoming the minority here in the United States, probably in a couple more decades this will happen.

So until it happens, I think some white folks would like to establish their 'god-given rights' as the leaders of this country. I kid you not.

13. They are the losers
Their comfort in life is the notion that no matter how much they screw up or fail in life, there are people below them. Skin color is an easy identifier to determine who is beneath them.
You will notice they gather together because they depend upon each other to keep their myth alive.
They despise non-racists because they would be seen by them as the losers they really are.

That the media gives such people the megaphone they have is a disgrace to this country.

14. Fear of retribution
Edited on Thu Apr-28-11 01:55 PM by jberryhill
I think, in general, they've come to a realization that all of the effort put into "Christianizing" non-European people was a counterproductive idea.

I mean, golly, if you are going to screw over a culture, a nation, or a race, for pete's sake don't get them to share your belief in an irritable, vengeful god who cheerleads racial war and whose principal figures weren't really "white" - a god who, when he's looking for "justice", really gets it done on a large scale to the seventh generation.
