Republicans pushing ID card display to vote. |
|
My feeling on ID cards is they are a raw attempt by republicans to take out some classes of reliable democratic voters. But I feel that if democrats, democratic leaning organizations and democratic activists allow republicans to eliminate democratic voters through ID cards, defeat will be well earned. Republicans can't control what democrats do to get cards into the wallets and purses of voters. Democrats have one and one half year to get validated cards in the hands of voters. One of the largest efforts by democrats over the coming year must be getting validated ID cards into many hands. And when November 2011 comes, wipe republicans off the face of the political map.

I remember when they floated the idea of using drivers licenses as a requirement to vote. Well, hello? If you live in a big city, and Democratic majority, you are unlikely to have a license or a CAR, simply because it is not necessary and a big time inconvenience.

I attended a Democratic dinner last night and we talked about this. If necessary, we need to raise money in the states where they pass the voter ID laws. We need to offer to pay for the voter ID cards and photos of anyone who is a registered Democrat and is unable to pay for their own card.
This could be a two part effort. First, get likely Democrats registered to vote if they are not currently registered. Then, at a separate location, pay for ID cards. It might take some thought and knowledge of each state's laws to accomplish this. But it might scare some of the repubbies off.
Of course, the next step is to challenge these voter ID laws. This sounds like a poll tax to me.

students WON'T be able to use the school issued ID at the polls...WTF?...Madison WI is a big college town so the repubs goal is to keep as many students as possible from voting....This is nothing but suppressing the vote, plan and fucking simple....I'm pretty sure students can't use out of state DL's either, but I'm not 100% sure on that...
All this repub bull shit about ACORN, voter fraud, etc is nothing but fake outrage and phony anger....Where the fuck was all the outrage in 2000 when the election was stolen from Gore,.,,
