Don Imus Got Shitcanned for Less...and was similarly profitable

In my view, Trump's statements over the last two weeks have been out-and-out racism, and have, in fact, increased in their intensity, or decreased in the veil they've thrown over their sentiments. Don Imus was shitcanned by this company for much less. This is not to say that Imus' "nappy headed ho's" comment wasn't horrendous. It was. But it was a one-off, even if he'd dropped similar one-offs in the past. Trump's comments, from the birtherism, to the outrageous speculations about "Dreams...", to the openly racist statements about Obama's grades are not one-offs. They are consistent and vicious race-baiting - a campaign built exclusively on race-baiting. They are, in fact, much much worse than what Imus did.

I know some here disagreed about whether Imus should have been fired. That's fine. I'm not even suggested that Trump should be. But it would be the consistent move. What Trump is doing is racist, and it is more insidious and nasty than what Imus did, as bad as that was.

And like the drug addled moran he is, he gave them the perfect excuse.

The network part of NBC is probably the weakest on the air so if Trump is making money for them, they will amazingly overlook his ignorance, arrogance and racism.

If the ratings go into the crapper, they'll get rid of trump like a social disease.

There is no moral scale of equivalency to these guys, particularly with comcast in the drivers seat. If it makes money for them they'll tolerate it.
