Oklahoma GOPer: It's A Fact That 'Blacks' Don't Work As Hard
Edited on Thu Apr-28-11 09:33 PM by demtenjeep
Oklahoma State Rep. Sally Kern (R) says that she's seen "a lot of people of color who didn't study hard because they said the government would take care of them."

The remarks came during a debate on an amendment to the state's constitution that would eliminate Affirmative Action in the state government. It was proposed by State Rep. Leslie Osborn (R), who said: "This proposed constitutional amendment makes clear that all men are created equal and should be treated as such by their government. If voters approve this constitutional amendment, state government will not be allowed to discriminate against Oklahoma citizens based on race or gender - period."

1. I'm not gonna say all GOPers are racists, but a lot of racists tend to be GOPers.

2. yea
I took a group of kids to our State Capital yesterday. In the KS Supreme court room they had pictures of all current and former justices. One kid pointed out that they were all mostly old white men... no women or people of color...

Very astute my students

4. And she is married to the pastor of Olivet Baptist Church, which

exists in an older, probably less affluent, not too far from the business area of Oklahoma City. Virulently anti-gay
State Representative - thinks that's a worse threat than (gasp) terrorism or (gasp, gasp) Islam.

In that area I would expect there are a few people of color going to that church. Probably a few hispanic folks as well,
certainly some native American.

Maybe the preacher's family just likes the control they get over people with little wealth. Or maybe they are just
bitter they didn't go with one of the other divisions of Christianity that pays better?

I wonder if they have ever really read that book preacher-daddy preaches from? 'Cause I think they missed the point.
