Rep. Lee Terry gets an earful
Omaha World Herald
http://dealsomaha.com/article/20110428/NEWS01/704299903/0#rep-lee-terry-gets-an-earful

U.S. Rep. Lee Terry got an earful Thursday at a raucous town hall meeting, as baby boomers and senior citizens blasted him for backing a controversial overhaul of Medicare.

Several accused Terry and his fellow Republicans of trying to balance the budget on the backs of senior citizens.

“Why is it always on the old people?” one woman shouted at Terry.

“This is totally unfair,” another said.

It was Terry’s first town hall since he voted this month with his GOP House colleagues to turn Medicare into a voucher-like system for future retirees.

2. Apparently, the people in that meeting weren't hard enough...
By this account, it sounds like they "grilled" him by only asking why he had to draw from "entitlement" programs like SS, MCR, etc, which is a soft question. Plus, the sympathy that he had to look on the revenue side was softball.

Aren't people from Omaha outraged enough? Apparently NOT.

The revenue side might be served by having corporations pay their fair share and by supporting green industries, not by making up an excuse that MCR and SS (both funded by payroll taxes and paid into) should be screwed with. They were never under law made TO be screwed with... Yet, look what these thieves in Congress have been doing all these years.

Get a little more pissed off, Ohama!

3. These are not "entitlement programs", they are "Earned Benefits"
Big, big difference in terminology.

4. Sharron - I love that. You should start a thread. We need to start calling these programs just
that.

6. Exactly...
So, where's the outrage when these idiots call them entitlement programs?
