AZ's "Papers, please" author and Birther: 'Obama May Not Be Visiting Arizona

Because We Require Papers'

SB-1070 Mastermind Russell Pearce: 'Obama May Not Be Visiting Arizona Because We Require Papers' (Headline from HuffPo).

"I can tell you that the best thing about 1070 is that Obama may not be visiting Arizona because we actually require papers now," said the Republican state senator at the event held by Judicial Watch.

Last month, Pearce took aim at the president over his opposition to the measure on grounds that it's discriminatory. The Arizona Republic reported at the time on what Pearce had to say on the matter in accepting an award from the David Horowitz Freedom Center:

"When you talk about jihad, that is exactly what Obama has against America, specifically the state of Arizona. Think about it. This is the first time in the history of the United States that a sitting president has sided with a foreign government to sue the citizens of its country. For defending our laws? For defending and protecting the citizens of the state of Arizona? It's outrageous and it's impeachable."

1. If I were Obama I'd march right the fuck into Arizona
look that fucker in the eye and fucking dare him to arrest me. Then I'd stuff my fucking papers so far up his as he wouldn't be able to shit for a week. But then again I'm not a politician and I don't have to worry about Republicans being upset with me.

3. I'd say that would be a win-win for the President.
I think most Americans would applaud him for that action if he did it with a touch more diplomacy (but not much).

4. Only if the US can retain Pima county--I love the desert and could love happily in Tucson.
If not--I'll accept volunteers to take my son and I in, thanks.

6. Geographically, AZ is a HUGE state.
There is a very comfortable distance between my residence and Maricopa, AZ, in Pinal County--not mine of Maricopa County, thank goodness.

11. She'll be in Maricopa County.
And Pinal County is between Pima and Maricopa so, technically, we can disavow her as our neighbor. :)

9. Just thinking of him trying to arrest the president for not having his papers makes me laugh
Edited on Fri Dec-31-10 06:41 PM by ShadowLiberal
Really, does that idiot Pearce really expect an Arizona cop to march up the president and arrest him for being an illegal immigrant if he steps foot in Arizona?

You become a police officer and you try that Pearce, see how long it takes before Obama's Secret Service protection has you in handcuffs and hauled off to jail for trying a stunt like that. Only a complete idiot would try to arrest and deport a US president in the United States for being an illegal immigrant, especially the current president.

10. Does this rube...
actually think that a normal law enforcement officer could work his way through the Secret Service and arrest Obama? Seriously, if you come at any president with a gun, you are gonna become a sieve.

19. Look for Pearce to be in the news again Wednesday:

Despite his work to develop a birthright-citizenship bill that Arizona and several other states will consider next year, <Arizona State Senate President-elect Russell> Pearce has consistently said that the state's budget and economy will be his priority. In a meeting this week with The Arizona Republic Editorial Board, he said his immigration efforts will not be a distraction.

"Our priority will be a jobs bill and the budget, but this is also a battle worth engaging in," Pearce said. "And (Senate Bill) 1070 didn't stop us from doing our work."

Pearce said details of the birthright-citizenship bill will be released at a multistate event scheduled for Jan. 5 in Washington, D.C. He and Rep. John Kavanagh, R-Fountain Hills, plan to attend.
